Well this is interesting. My disc will not eject from the player.
Tonight I popped in my Godzilla (1998) 4K UHD disc for the first time, and will absolutely not eject; the disc tray will not open under any circumstance. Every single time I select the Open/Close button on the remote or on the player itself, it will say OPEN, but instead the disc will start back up again, and continue to do this over and over again. I've shut it off, unplugged, and nothing. I went to Panasonic's website for troubleshooting, and this is what they've given me. That didn't work either. Purchased the player and August, and this is the first sign of trouble. Anyone else experiencing this, and/or have found a way to resolve this problem? |

Did you get those "00 RET" and "06FTO" displayed as explained in the instructions you linked?
Model DP-UB820 1. Turn the unit OFF. 2. Press and hold the [ OK ] the [ Y ] and the [ B ] buttons on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. “00 RET” is displayed on the unit’s display. 3. Press the arrow right ►Right Arrow button repeatedly until “06FTO” is displayed on the unit’s display. 4. Press the [ OK ] button. |

On the 820:
1. Is there an option for resuming playback? My previous players would remember the place I stopped or turned the player off on, this one doesn't seem to have that (same discs that allowed it on old players) 2. Is there a way to completely turn off the front display? I saw Dim, Auto, Normal, but nothing to turn it off. I like darkness when I watch, I could always put electrical tape on it. 3. Are there any optimizations most people miss or anything I should enable? I have a Vizio P659-G1 for reference. 4. Are there any tools for optimization aside from the Spears and Munsil 4K disc. Sounds like that disc is for enthusiasts and less for amatures. Last edited by RevolverOcelScott; 01-20-2022 at 01:45 PM. |

I do like the feature, I just like the ability to turn it off. I'm unfortunately easily distracted so I like minimal lights on stuff around my screen. I used to have a player that had a display, but you could hit a button to turn it off.

I just checked mine (820/824) and there is no option to disable the front display completely; something which I think should have been available even though I personally do want it on at all times. |

2. Yes, but I believe it was hidden somewhere in one of the audio settings. I don't have it on at the moment to check, but it might be under High Clarity. There's a subsetting to turn off video when playing. 3. Most of the default/Auto settings on the player would read the correct EDID and apply the correct settings on the player. The biggest "secret" is if you want to use HDR Optimizer, you have to be playing a movie in order to turn it on from there (and it's only applicable with HDR10, not Dolby Vision). 4. That's all you really need, just use the basic patterns that is for amateurs too. The brightness (black pluge and checkerboard) etc. |

Arrow and Criterion are the ones that work with any consistency. Stuff from major studios and most other indies doesn't work.

Set this to Off. There's two settings for it, one for video and one for audio. |

I uploaded a quick video off my phone to YouTube showing what's going on. All it does is continue to read the disc over and over again, and refuses to open/close the tray whatsoever. The disc itself plays fine, it just won't come out of the player. Nothing seems to be working. |
