Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. That doesn't mean that he's smart, it just means that he's clumsy and sometimes one can be lucky or not that he's around.

Preferably, battery glasses should be dropped and all 3D equipments be passive 3D, that way only the TV/projector should be the sole equipment to active display the 3D picture. Less garbage and less expenses is the best solution to those who want to watch 3D content.

For projectors to use polarized glasses, you still need to have a special, expensive silver screen installed. You also need a second projector and a polarization filter. The difficulty level goes up significantly. You could also do 2 projectors with Dooby-style color-filter glasses but that is also expensive. There’s no reason to do away with active glasses in projectors. It’s by far the lowest bar to entry for 3D on any device made after 2017. I definitely agree that if we could get new 3D TV’s, it would be great to standardize around polarized glasses (or autostereoscopic lightfield displays.)

There's no need for a second projector as there are projectors that are able to do that with single equipment.

And about those prices... if they are expensive that is because the demand is low and they tend to have high prices. If people buy passive TVs or projectors then the prices go low because the demand makes technology cheaper.

If that happens I’ll be absolutely thrilled.

I'm not sure that the silver screens are that much more expensive (last I looked it was a 50% price premium or so), and I hear that gray screens can help projectors have better contrast. Snagging 2 projectors and an alignment rig also doesn't seem that costly.
Finding a place to mount them though...

Active 3D on projectors is pretty nice, but I'd like to see modern refresh rates for the glasses. Although, as a side benefit, active glasses put the kibosh onto using a laptop while watching a movie, and they reduce the amount of phone usage during a film as well.

Ironically, I’m writing this post on my phone with active 3D glasses on while playing Doctor Strange on the TV but yes, in general 3D content/glasses definitely helps cut down on distraction/phone use. I’m rewatching Strange with the commentary track after doing a separate watch a couple weeks ago.

And I think maybe you’re joking about 2 projectors and a rig not being that pricey? Obviously everyone will have a different income level so “expensive” is relative, but I would guess that for most people, the projector is the single most expensive piece of equipment in their home theater. Doubling that price, plus the polarization rig, just to use passive vs active lenses is a bit extreme for a lot of people. If you’ve got the disposable income to do it, by all means, more power to you and I am jealous!
