Dragonslayer is a title that makes sense for Kino to license since Paramount only has US rights (Disney has international rights), so Paramount may have less incentive to release it themselves. Paramount did end up releasing Popeye themselves despite similar circumstances, however, so who really knows.
I mean I guess a UHD would be nice and all but I will be happy to at least have it in HD finally.

I wonder if the use of The Band's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" in the film's opening is what's kept a legit release form happening. Can only imagine what those music $$$ are.

You and me both. The instant notification isn't exactly instant from what I'm finding. I can't constantly refresh, but I try to keep the thread up and refresh throughout the day.

Hope I can snag one, but the odds are not in our favor. Hopefully though.

Olive Films has it out on Blu. I don't believe their Paramount deal has expired yet, just the MGM one, as the titles from the former are still listed on their website. They can just be hard to find at the major online retailers.

Oh, good grief! I'm gone for six days to chair a conference, and the very day I left a new Paramount deal was announced by Kino! Whoa! I know a couple of people have expressed interest in my Number One Paramount Want, Mitchell Liesen's The Mating Season (1951).

The Insider wrote on December 6, 2019:

and my hopes were of course dashed. But then, on March 25, 2022, the Insider wrote of The Mating Season:

So many people have expressed interest that I'm hopeful again that this excellent film, which has never been released before in the US on any format, will see the light of day via Kino. Mark me down for three copies, Kino Insider!

Martial arts superstar Chuck Norris (A Force of One, Code of Silence) teams up with screen legend Lee Van Cleef (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Death Rides a Horse) to take on a terrorist training camp known only as The Octagon in this deadly tale of revenge! Plagued by painful memories as a fighter, Scott James (Norris) has stayed away from the dark side of battle. But when a vengeance-seeking heiress (Karen Carlson, The Candidate) hires him to infiltrate an international terrorist operation run by his adopted brother (Tadashi Yamashita, American Ninja), Scott has no idea what he’s coming up against. Drawn closer and closer to The Octagon, Scott realizes his brother is using his skill in the deadliest manner, training men in the ninja style of killing. Now it’s up to Scott to battle his brother in the ultimate showdown of Good vs. Evil! Directed by Eric Karson (Black Eagle, Angel Town) and co-starring Richard Norton (Force: Five), Art Hindle (Invasion of the Body Snatchers), Aaron Norris (Lone Wolf McQuade) and Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), The Octagon is filled with hard-hitting Norris vs. Ninjas action!

Love this flick.
KLI, would any of Chuck Norris' movies be a possible for a UHD release according to you?

Did I imagine that it was mentioned Kino was repressing Deceived (1991), 500 units? If when are these going to be available? ( or where they already sold out and I missed it again!)

What I wouldn't give for a decent release of Nashville. My Criterion blu-ray (bought in the dual-pack format) was out-of-sync on one of my favorite songs ("Tapedeck in His Tractor") and when I wrote to Criterion to ask about it, their response was "Yeah, we know, but the problem was on the master we received, and we're not going to fix it." I was so disappointed. Nashville is one of my Top 100 favorite films, and I haven't bought the Paramount Presents edition because I've been waiting for a price decrease. A properly mastered UHD release would be so sweet ...

Terror in the Wax Museum has some sort of film elements issues. The TV cut (currently streaming in HD at places like AV) seems to be the only surviving version as the elements to the theatrical cut are lost or were destroyed.
If the censored bits are indeed lost on film, a tape master for those segments might be the only way to restore it. It was released uncut on VHS in some countries. There may be 1 inch masters of the uncut version.

Obviously you guys are always working on deals, but is this the first acknowledgment of another Universal deal upcoming?

Everything from the last, finalized, one has been revealed, yes?

KL Insider-

How about a Directed by Alfred Hitchcock: TV Episodes release?

Near as I can tell from this link plus IMDB, none of them have ever been issued on Blu-ray.

Pluses and minuses as I see them:

- Big name (how has Alfie sold for Kino?)
- Never on Blu-ray (is re-discovered Hitchcock a selling point?)
- May be cheap(er) to license because lesser known/not movies
- Controlled by Universal (Kino has done deals with them)
- Limited number of episodes (not a multi-year series)
- 17 half-hour shows and 3 one-hour shows for a total of less than 10 hours
- All but one are B&W, and all are SD, so may fit on 3 discs?
- Likely that all shot on film (good)
- Will require fresh scans and cleanup (cost?)

Disclaimer: I'm putting this out there as an idea that could be unique and might sell for Kino. You know better. I admire what few of his movies I've seen, but am far from an expert.

He already answered this when I asked - Universal will not license AHP out. They did ask.

A 'Hitchcock directed' blu would be a cop out that I would boycott anyway, alot of the best episodes are not necessarily ones he directed. We need the whole series. The problem - way too many episodes, a ton of which have clearance issues (this is why season 7 and the 3 seasons of Hour never got DVD releases in the US).

You may be right. Red Eye is a great fit for Shout.

Also I don't really see Kino leaving an already available on streaming 4k with HDR DV grade material on the table to go with 1080p blu rays. Especially for Double Jeopardy which is arguably a big enough title to get a UHD (if only looking at box office success).

A Match point blu ray would be great.

Tough crowd. Hope always made fun of himself, that's what made his humor perfect for hosting stuff like the Oscars, I was just trying to channel that. As Hope would say I'll let myself out

I bought Match Point and A Bronx Tale in a 5 for €25 Amazon.de deal just 2 months ago. And they're already budget priced.

Apologies if it's already been answered, but are you able to share any specifics at all about the slipcover sale? Understandable if you can't, but for example a rough ETA, or what day of the week it will be announced, or just time of day, etc?
