Both shows have been broadcast on TPTV previously. Both are very different, and both are certainly worth a rewatch too. Thanks for the heads up.

I enjoyed the Christopher Lee doc more than that of Peter Cushing.

The same, enjoyed the Sir Christopher Lee documentary more than the Peter Cushing one. I agree with what Caroline Munro said during the Cellar Club introduction, the interview documentary should have been longer, as it was a fascinating listen and watch.

Default The Footage Detectives and The Saint

Hadn't enjoyed as much the past two or three new editions of The Footage Detectives, but I certainly did with yesterday afternoon's new edition (plenty of Mike and Noel's comedy routines/conversations) The jubilee celebrations didn't overwhelm this new edition (I enjoyed the Platinum Jubilee concert this past Saturday night, as well as what I saw of the parade yesterday afternoon). They were the theme of some of the segments/features (I forgot to record the interview programme about the Queen's horses from the mid-eighties).

As for what was (in production order) the last episode of the first series of The Saint (cutback, is it correct that the first produced series/season of The Saint was broken up into two blocks? I read on Talking Pictures TV's Facebook page recently that the various ITV regions showed different episodes, not in the same order as stated on EpGuides for example), "The Man Who Was Lucky" was one of my favourite episodes so far, in what has been an uneven series so far (the episode got better as it went on (including a clever plan against the main villain), ending in a very satisfying way).

Ocean - my dvd set of The Saint has 30ish episodes listed as "season 1", so it does seem like this was split in two when broadcast.

I enjoyed the episode with the man who was blinded in Baja area of Mexico (otherwise known as Pinewood studios &#128517 as it was more personal than most episodes

Re Footage Detectives, i thought this episode was the best I've seen, a good mix of content, great colour footage of 1937. A nice tribute to Peter Bowles too and I'll have to look out for when they broadcast that rare film that they tracked down from 1962!

Genuinely forgot to include that in my comments, the Peter Bowles tribute including the bit about the obscure film Live Now, Pay Later. Used to really enjoy To the Manor Born. Based on the clip shown on The Footage Detectives (it definitely looked like Ian Hendry with Peter Bowles), I'm looking forward to seeing this film when TPTV (hopefully) show it.

A question: is there anything in those two mugs in front of Mike and Noel on each edition? This question is meant in a humorous way.

United Kingdom The series Hazell and Callan

Have checked Sky's TV listings tonight, and the first episode of Hazell is being shown at midnight - 1 am next Thursday (technically, late Wednesday night, following the next episode of The Champions). Callan will follow afterwards at 1 am (I know some episodes of this series are missing).

Even more obscurely, re Peter Bowles, this week's episode of Dial 999 from 1959, included 3 villains, one of whom was... Peter Bowles! It was one of the best episodes too, involving radioactive isotopes. Worth a view on their Encore service for fans of his.

Re the broadcast of Callan, only episode 1 and 6 exist from the first series. There are more episodes available from series 2, although TPTV don't show some that are included on the dvd set (I think because they are a collection of previously lost and already existing episodes, the rights must lie between different companies depending on who found them/restored them). Its a miracle they exist at all!
Series 3 and 4 were made by Thames in colour when they took over the channel from ABC and are complete.

EDIT: Sorry about that - duplicated post caused by glitching app on my phone. Thankfully the glitch went away when the app updated (Google Play Services).

PS I think the mugs are empty - waiting for Noel to do a coffee run!

Yes, you've reminded me of something else I enjoyed in last Sunday afternoon's new Footage Detectives, part of Mike and Noel's comedy routine, Mike wondering if Noel was going to fetch him a very nice cup/mug of tea. It makes me chuckle when Noel has that funny (in the ha-ha sense) look on his face after Mike has said something.

Eventually, I'm going to get Network's various DVD releases of Callan, including the one release which is a documentary with a few bonus features (including an Edward Woodward music special). Think there was a book as well.

I know it won't please everyone, as it's DVD-only, but I checked Renown Pictures' website earlier, as I remember seeing a post on I think their Facebook page that the latest offer would be ending yesterday (?), meaning to me that their website would have a new listing at the top of the left-hand column for June and July (the previous one being the May and June specials). I was very happy to see it, and I thought you would probably would be too - a Renown Pictures DVD release of Live Now, Pay Later is now available.
