he was credited as one for characters solely because they used characters from the 1st movie, which he did write.

Richard Kelly publicly stated that he didn't think the sequel should be made and he wanted no part of it. Fox went ahead with it against his wishes, but since it's based on his characters he gets a credit for it. I would assume if he is involved in a sequel it wouldn't acknowledge the events of S. Darko ever happened.

It really was a crappy movie. A few good laughs but it wasn't meant to be a comedy.
