Instead of "favorite" Droid the better question is which one made you care about them as a "person". And the answer to me is B2EMO. R2 gets a lot of love because of nostalgia but did anyone really think it was anything more than a program?

B2EMO clearly was upset and missed Maarva. The droids being sentient is an untapped SW story.

R2 has a range of beeps and whistles to indicate emotional response. You know when he's sad, scared, happy, etc. It's easier to achieve that with dialogue, as in B2EMO's case. (Don't get me wrong, I like B2, too.)
