I was at the same point last week so it came down to price and Samsung won.

One thing to think about if TV audio matters to you though is that the Sony Audio is far superior on this particular model. The Samsung sounds like you are listening to headphones compared to the Sony. For me and those who have a sound system, it should not be a deciding factor so it came down to price point. I got Best Buy to bring the Samsung down to $1500 but the Sony, no dice.

how did you get them to go so far down on price for the B750? i got mine for $1799.99 and I thought that was as good as I was going to get it for....right now though I am not too happy about the ghosting that I am seeing when playing Blu-Ray...I was messing with the Z5100 at my local Best Buy and ran the same Blu Ray's that I was not pleased about on my B750 and was not seeing the same ghosting and hazing problem...for those that do own the xbr9 and like the soap-opera look, so more then likely have the automotion turned on high, are you having any issues with ghosting or hazing around moving objects when watching bluray? please help thank you

maybe he got the price down because he bought the open box. there is no way he could have gotten it without buying more expensive products or have someone working inside the store. I have samsung LN46B750 and it is just amazing. I think the sound is good for 20W speakers.

Then you must not have seen the Sony KDL-52V5100 at Best Buy. I compared it to Panasonic 54" plasma and a 50" Pioneer Kuro by bringing my own BDs to audition and to help me decide. Both of the Plasma TVs failed to produce jitter free BD movie viewing. In the movie Knowing, when they show the concrete vault when the time capsule is about to be buried and the camera pans across it, both the Kuro and Panasonic plasma TVs should an awful jittery motion. The Sony KDL-52V5100 showed an absolutely smooth cinema like motion in that scene without any jittery motion. Also both plasma TVs showed artificial grain or the store had the sharpness turned up too high. There were numerous other examples of jittery motions in fast action movies like Iron Man. I will never buy a plasma TV, the 120 Hz (5:5 pulldown) or 240 Hz (10:10 pulldown) have plasma beat as far as true cinema like PQ goes. The Sony also has excellent contrast that even rivals plasma TVs.

I just got my Sony on sale for 300 bucks off at Best Buy. It is one of the best deals out there. I even compared my Bravia with Sony's 240 Hz model costing twice as much. I really didn't see much difference between the two. Both are awesome TVs.

Actually no, it was brand new from their inventory. It was on sale for the longest time for $1699 on Best Buy's site and in store. I have no idea how I got it down to $1500 other than saying "If you get it down to $1500 I will buy one right now." I was there for about two hours looking at all the 240Hz tvs and got to know some of the employees. It seemed like they were hurting for a sale at the end of July or maybe they just wanted me to leave with it so I would quit bugging them? lol

Rwoj, didn't you have a Vizio???

Let me ask the honest questions, I went from Vizio to Samsung... What was it like going from Vizio to a Sony?

And personally I don't see a difference in LCDs and Plasmas much anymore, a slightly better black level with Plasma, but not the Grey v Black it was 3-5 years ago. OH, and I am only talking Sony, Samsung and Sharp LCDs.

Yes, and I still have the Vizio, but it's hooked up to my PC now.

As far as the switch goes, it was literally the difference between night and day. I was blown away by the blackest blacks I've ever seen just right out of the box without even calibrating it. The vizio never displayed black. I mean really. The blacks were just shades of grey. My 52" Bravia displays the ace of spades as an ace of spades. Stars are displayed in a truly black background instead of dark gray like in the vizio display for sci fi movies like The Fifth Element, 2001:A space odyssey, Close Encounters, and many others.

Vizios are just no match for the PQ of a Sony or a Samsung.

Default upgrade to 240hz or stay with 120hz?

Hey, for those of you looking at the 240hz Sonys and Samsungs... is the difference between 120hz and 240hz refresh rates noticeable? I have a Samsung LN40A650, but I'm moving and I'm thinking of selling the TV and either quality upgrading to a LN40B750 or size upgrading to a LN46A860 (the blue one)... but if the difference between the 120 hz and the 240hz AMP is noticeable then I'll just go with the LN40B750. What do you guys think?

To a normal person who has seen neither, they can't seem to tell a difference

If you are visually spoiled like me, yes, there is a big difference
The best way to describe it is 120Hz makes an action movie look "live" like a soap opera or late night talk show recording vs. 240Hz makes it look even more live like you are on the set or a home video in hi-def.

Thanks, That is about what I experienced too. I had the Gallevia 42" for a while and then bought a Sammy, then sold the Vizio and bought another Sammy. I still have the one in the kids room a 32" Viz, but I am not worried about them seeing dark grey or blacks... Wubzy is yellow, and so is Spongebob.

I just wanted to hear what you had to say, I get tired of people saying your a Fanboy, when really I, like You, can speak from personal experience. Vizios are getting better, but they aren't quiet there. BUT I do have to thank them for lowering the price of the HDTV market.
