This all depends on the person. I noticed a difference between a 720p Panny plasma and a 1080p Sony LCD at 7ft. Supposedly, I am not supposed to be able to tell the difference. Whatever...
I think this might be a phrase used by people to justify a 720 purchase over a 1080.

Agreed!

When my friend shopped for his 42 Panny Plazma - we compared the 720p and 1080p models side by side. The differences are visible - but minimal.

Blu-ray on 720p is totally awesome - I cannot watch DVD (even upconverted) any more. I have a 720p TV and am so glad I don't have to put up with DVD quality anymore.

Well you're comparing LCD to plasma. Did you try comparing LCD to LCD or plasma to plasma? The differences would be less obvious that way.
