the panasonic and epson come in to their own when put in brightest mode. they are 2 x 3 times bright than the jvc but you sacrifice image quality. (which doesnt mater with sports and such) so in a dark room and calibrated properly then the JVC all the way but if you have ambient light then go for one of the other options as suggested by everyone here from http://www.projectorreviews.com/epso...erformance.php "When doing the side-by-side images comparing the Epson Home Cinema 6500UB to the Panasonic PT-AE3000, I had to drop the Epson into low lamp mode, and it still appeared just a tad brighter than the Panasonic at full lamp power. That pretty much says it all. In "best mode" Epson's calibrated 587 lumens makes it brighter than average for best mode performance, but it can't match the lumens of the Sony VPL-HW10 or the JVC RS1 in their best modes - both are around 800 lumens" Last edited by murph1234; 08-12-2009 at 06:40 AM. You get more on/off contrast on the RS2 compared to the RS1, but you sacrifice lumens for the increase in on/off. A lot of RS2 owners have moved to the RS20 because of both the increase in contrast and lumens. That's not to say the RS2 is a dim projector, but most feel it doesn't have the lumens to drive BIG SCREENS!!!!!! The first gen JVC RS1/HD1 & RS2/HD100 are also notorious for the lamps dimming quickly. The 2nd gen HD350/RS10 & HD750/RS20's lamps do not dim as quickly but are only rated to 1500 hours, then it's another $400 for a new lamp. |

So I have narrowed it down to two projectors on two different price points. 1) The Misti HC6500 (or 6800 if I want to wait alittle more) for around $2300 and 2) JVC HD350 for around $3800. The blacks on the JVC are just amazing!! And the Misti 6500 looked really nice also... I guess my question is ... Is the JVC that much better a projector for the extra 1500 buckaroos? Any thoughts on this?

Also if you can wait till November/December you may want to wait for the new models from JVC. They will have improved contrast, brightness, features, and 120hz frame interpolation. for about $500 more MSRP then the current models. If I were you I would wait unless you needed a projector now then the HD350/RS10 I almost want to sell my RS10 to upgrade to one of the new models.
