I think the 4K episodes on Max look really good. I'm in for a purchase if the discs meet/exceed that quality

Basically yeah, it seems to be only series 3 and 4 that are mixed up. So for instance if you put in the disc that labelled season 4, disc it plays the first 9 episodes of season 3.

Watched some parts of the early episodes on Max and thought they looked really good. But then I skipped and randomly watched a couple of minutes of S10E02 (The one where Ross is fine) and it looked horrible. Maybe it’s just me, but it looked all waxy and off.

Did you checked "clean" shots or just the beginning? Because the shots with the credits obviously look weaker than the rest.

No, it is apparently just the UK version…

I received my US set today from GRUV and checked seasons 3 and 4 to make sure they were correctly labeled, and they were all fine

I watched a few minutes of the first two episodes of the series just to see if it was a noticeable upgrade from both the Blu-rays and the HD broadcasts, and it was obvious to me that it looked much improved in both color and clarity to my admittedly nonprofessional eyes….the audio sounded better as well

Huh?
The UK set is mis-labelled. People in other territories are saying they are not encountering that problem. It is not random sets in the UK.
