Am Sure game will be of quality.

Just not really excited for this. Can’t even tell if the main protagonist is the same dude?

Did you even watch the trailer? Its a female protagonist this time. The trailer makes that quite clear. The Ghost series is now an anthology. Jin Sakai's story wrapped up nicely at the end of Tsushima, so there was no need to extend it any further.

Yes. This looks great. So stoked.

Loved GoT, enough to buy the PS5 remaster with DLC and play it all over again. It's such a breathtaking game and I'm sure this will be the same.

Just some stray observations/thoughts:

1) I knew it was a woman after the first glimpse of the eyes. Something gave her away. I really dig the idea of a woman being the lead as they can do some interesting things story wise. People might complain, as one is already here, but this is SP. They're not UbiSoft. They listen to both Japanese people and fans and want to make both a faithful and respectful game while also being cool and fun. With Yotei it could be a story of a woman scorn and damaged by men as she uses their tools against them. Idk, I just think this is the right track in making something that feels similar yet different to Tsushima.

2) When she was being talked to I got the impression that this game might feature a system where you're stalked. Maybe they're just going for more of a metaphorical thing as the case with the wolf but there's something that game me the thought that this game could feature a assassin hunting element as you're hiding and always on the go.

3) Guns. Makes sense with the the time/era. I just hope they kind of suck and aren't the main draw for players. This sis all about that sword baby.

4) Some are askin' where's Jin. I'm happy he ain't in this. I too miss him but I think it's great that this is such a timely separated thing from the previous one. All I ask that there's some dialogue referencing his story and how he became a Ghost.

Anyhow, if you can't tell I'm stoked. Hope we get more at the Game Awards in December.

Gotta love getting mad about fictional games having a female protagonist because "Women not allowed to visit area with men!" and so on. Its just a story being told with a cultural backdrop. I suppose AC games should have had some other stuff added in too then because racisms existed and should have shown the much more brutal reality etc. Come on

We all play games as a form of escapism. That means it's a way to massage real world elements and so on with their own vision. Personally i am after reading what the story is set about more interested to see how it all plays out and i couldn't care less if its a female Ronin style situation as long as they do the character justice. Lol @ "she's plain and Jin was attractive". Beauty in the eye of the current beer holder i guess.

Sucker Punch also has form for this with Infamous. They had Cole, Delsin and then even the DLC so they are able to step away from the same character in the same IP. I think this opens up more possibilities for future sequels that won't get tied down to one thing but if they do see an opportunity, then they can go for it.

Whatever

I watched it again before your screenshots. The first pic up close, you can clearly tell. All other shots “In Motion” looks 50/50. Though unlike folks here, I wasn’t looking for Gender, I was looking for Gameplay / Story / Scenery.

If memory serves, I think I thought that scene with the wolf was the female character from the first game. Clearly not as the timeline doesn’t line up.

Knowing SP it’ll be a great game with great visuals. I figure combat will be similar to Tsushima. Regardless of Pro, I’ll probably pre-order.

I too demand absolute historical and sociological fidelity from my games where I massacre hundreds, if not thousands, of enemies without being overwhelmed. Just like I demand grounded realism from my games set in a milieu featuring space wizards and laser swords...

I’m all for calling out trash movies, tv, etc. that are clearly agenda driven rather than natural creativity driven…but this absolutely did not feel that way. Now, we still know NOTHING about it so we can’t say for sure it won’t be, but I highly doubt it. People really need to cool it with jumping on literally everything because it discredits when there is an actual valid point/complaint to be made about something else.

Fighting robot dinosaurs as a bad@$$ red head? Great.
Fighting as a dual wielding samurai-like chick? Great.
Raiding tombs as a 105lbs soaking wet mid-20s chick with a bow and arrow wrecking men twice her size? Bit of a stretch realistically, but great in implementation.

This does not feel agenda driven. I've also been waiting for more female focused stories in the samurai genre. Whether it be games or films, it's too good of an idea to pass up on when it comes to that focus.
Like I thought a story that focused on the wives of shoguns as they have their own politics and drama would be compelling, so what Yotei could be going for could scratch that itch for me.

I just cannot stress enough how happy it makes me that SP decided to make this series an anthology of stand alone stories, rather than a direct sequel! Jin Sakai's story wrapped up beautifully in Ghost of Tsushima and trying to extend that any further would only diminish what they created! I kind of wish Naughty Dog had taken this approach with The Last of Us.

Don’t give them any ideas. They already eat, sleep and breathe that series. I’ve been waiting so long for something fresh from them. Granted, the Naughty Dog of today is not the Naughty Dog of the late 2000s/early 2010s.

They ARE working on something completely new. That was announced a while back.

I still think ND is an amazing developer. I enjoyed Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy a lot. I also thought The Last of Us Part 2 played and looked amazing (I just despised the story). But I agree, ND hasn't been quite the same since Straley and Hennig left.

Allegedly, until proven otherwise I’ll believe it is a Last of Us spin off

Last of Us is not for me, but yes Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy were good games. Lost Legacy more so than 4 outside of the Nate/Elena story which was knocked out of the park. I wish we had gotten to see Amy Hennig’s version of that game; Nolan North has said it was very different than the final product. I’m really excited for her Captain America/Black Panther game.

I was not in favor of them introducing a long lost brother in 4 and to be honest, Im still kind of not. But given the supposed turbulence with the game's development, I think ND still managed to do a pretty good job of turning a sow's ear into a silk purse. Still not the direction I wouldve gone in, but ND managed to get away with it (barely). I didnt find it offensive the way TLOU 2's story hit me.
