And as you said, the PSVR version was a welcome idea. It does suffer less items onscreen, but nothing as bad as Hitman 3 on PSVR1. That game was so scaled back that the shelf 3 meters away looks empty. Then you walk within 2 meters and suddenly, lots of bottles appear out of thin air onto the shelf. Then disappear if you walk back a step. This game in VR, not nearly as bad thankfully. |

![]() [Show spoiler] He says in the video "New Terrain", and they show a ship flying over basic looking mountains. ![]() I am surprised Hello Games was still adding new updates and features, as they've been very busy with that new procedurally generated fantasy genre game they're bringing out probably by 2026 with dragons and monsters. Procedural generated maps, I'll pass but I'll at least look at the gameplay and reviews. [Show spoiler] Quote:
2D, the suburban houses/street/trees map is my favorite. |

That reminds me of Starfield, where a mission has you land, create a base and then having to defend it in a mission.
I gave this NMS another play today with the updates. They improved the clouds a lot. Now they seem more realistic than before, as they line up in the sky at a certain height and can be flown through more convincingly. Also, when flying to the planet, clouds don't completely cover the vision for more than a second, so it's a more fluent switch to the ground. Although there is a big pop in of the land from the basic texture for the planet that disappears as you get near the ground. Unfortunately, the planets still have that "all the same terrain" style to them, so there is almost zero mystery to exploring for new sights. Even so, a clever game and there are not many games with endless planets. |

I did find an outpost on a planet that has ladders on it and stairs, so that was different at least. Have you tried Creative Mode? I like it but there is no challenge to it. I should probably go back to normal mode and test that out again. I had a hundred of hours progress in Normal mode, and then Hello Games put out a major revision to NMS which automatically erased all of my progress, back in 2018 I think. I'm sure that put a damper on my enthusiasm after that. |
