Default blu ray player won't play bd-r dvd

UPDATE:
ALSO WANTED TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW, that this is for my client and I am using Toast Titanium 8 to burn it. I tried 10 but it crashes when I select by external dvd burner

Hi Everyone,
I have bdp s 550. Recently i purchased lacie blu ray burner and it burns the disc fine and plays it back in the drive but when i pop it in blu ray burner (it doesn't read the disc). Say cannot play disc.

I had a similar problem with a regular DVD-R once as well.

Btw I am using Sony BD-R.

Any ideas?

Did you perform all the firmware updates on the player?

Okay Jawad, what exactly are you trying to do?

actually the problem is rather different i am in video production business and been doing regular dvds for quite sometime now and now we are offering blu - ray. So before giving a DVD to a client I wanted to test it out. I burned it on Lacie FireWire Burner and it plays back fine on ROM drive but when I toss it in blu-ray player, it's not recognized. From what I understand I may need firmware update which I also downloaded on DVD and played it and player didn't recognize that either

any idea?

no discussion of "ripping" movies or the means of doing so...legal applications only.

To update the firmware on your Bluray player, the easiest way is to connect it to your internet (ethernet cable).

If you want to make a disc to update, you download the firmware update onto your computer...

Double-click the UPDATE_BDPS550_VER020.EXE file to begin the process to extract the firmware update.

At the UPDATE_BDPS550_VER020.EXE dialog box, type a location, or click the "Browse..." button to select a location for the uncompressed update, and then click "OK".

The UPDATE_BDPS550_VER020.ISO file will be extracted to the specified location.

The .ISO file is the one that will be loaded onto the disc. You need a blank CD-R.

(you might be able to use a DVD-R, but sony's website does not mention this, so I would just stick with a CD-R)

Ok, now you need a program that will burn the .iso (image) to disc.

I like to use this program

Open this program up and go to Mode - ISO Write, locate the .iso file and insert the blank cd-r. Then start process.

That should make you an update disc.

As far as the BD-R situation, I will try to help after I eat breakfast.
