Default Lexicon Blu-ray player

It's $3,499.

Sure looks similar almost exact as a Oppo BD83 with a new faceplate

Not a chance, I have the Oppo and am very happy with it. I could take that money and save a little more and upgrade my front 3 instead (if I were in the market and had that money!)

I'm sure it's nice, but at that price, for my needs in this economy, it's not that nice.

if one of you pick it up, please give us poor folks a review!

It's clearly being based on the BDP-83 platform (same front panel and rear panel layouts, same feature set). Interesting that one front panel pic I've seen has a THX logo, suggesting that they've gotten it THX certified. I would presume that they've upgraded some parts in the analog path (similar to what modders are already doing with the BDP-83), but there's certainly a lot of cost there that's simply mark-up for Lexicon and their dealers.

Rhett,

I'm more than happy with my Oppo player. It seems the only thing I buy these days is vinyl.

I hear you. And don't rub it in I'll be amongst you vinyl lovers soon. I'll wait for the Arcam BDP to compliment my AVR600 but until then, I'll keep my Denon.

I think I'll pass on that. I'll never spend that much money on any player; even if I had a million bucks.

Looks like a rebadged Oppo. All the sensors, switches, jacks, display lines up with the Oppo unit. Offers the same universal playback, same decoder, hmmmm..... I thought someone on AVS mentioned Oppos was OEMing one for another brand. Guess this was it.

Haven't liked anything from Lexicon since the day's of the MC-1, the RT-10/20 players were a huge disappointment, and really not sure what to think about this, but we'll see. Hope to see a BD player from Classe' soon, now that will be expensive, but worth every penny! My .02

Have you read about the BDP-83 Special Edition? Upgraded power supply and analog section, complete with ESS DAC's, for $900. It won't weigh 40 pounds, but if you are looking for really high performance it might be of interest to you...

I want to replace my old sony 9000es with something that would be worthy to take its place.
Why not look at Denon's flagship, or their new reference DBP4010
Denon DBP4010 This new player is significantly less than their flagship, but has the same video processor as the flagship, Oppo, Lexicon, and their AL24 processing which is pretty amazing. It will be a great player, and its cheaper than the lexicon too. Weight is 22 lbs by the way.

Question for you Oppo BDP-83 owners: What color is the light when the unit is on?

The flagship A1UDCI has Realta, not ABT VRS.

I guess if Pioneer didn't make a universal player, i'd go with the denon A1UDCI. But I have faith in Pioneer.
Lexicon is uncomfortably in the middle of the Oppo SE and the no holds barred Denon A1UDCI. If I was on the fence, I'd get the Oppo and ignore the Lexicon markup or remove all doubt concerning build quality and pay the additional 1k for the A1UDCI. You could probably find the A1UDCI at discount in most places whereas there's probably some price protection on Lexicon so there's a possibility they could come out to about the same price!

The Lexicon is truly for hardcore fans only.
