The fact is, it is as everyone has said. Toshiba let leak a 51GB disc (where they added 2 GB to the current layers and than added a third 17 GB layer) was in production but later had to correct the statement. They only got approval to make it but are still in the testing ground and have recently found that it can not play on any existing player (yet) even with a firmware upgrade since the laser can not focus on the third layer. So for now it is still only a dream and in testing. Not a real product, not in production.
On the other hand, I believe it was Panasonic (correct me if I'm wrong) said that they have successfully tested and WILL be brining into production in 2008 a Blu-ray disc capable of holding 100 GB and it WILL play in all existing players with a firmware upgrade.
HD-DVD can not hope to meet a 100 GB size, let alone the theoretical 200 GB limit that Blu-ray has.

Besides, no existing film on HD-DVD has 51 GB, and that means if they ever release it, you will have to buy your library over again or live with the lower quality copies. On the other hand, some 60% of BD films use 50 GB, so it already has the quality that HD-DVD hopes to gain some day.
