...this can get someone very confused into buying the wrong product. "Pass-through" systems generally do not utilize HDMI Audio, instead an additional cable such as Optical is required.

What you should look for in a receiver is full HDMI functionality, both Audio and Video. The easiest way to find out is by the logo's on the front of the receiver. This more than likely indicates what codecs/formats it will process...







Plus, as Ferris said...it never hurts to ask!
