Which text are you reading?

Just because it's text doesn't necessarily mean it's supposed to be super sharp.

It's likely set right as it is -- Sharpness, optimally, should not be on at all... at most it should be at like 10% of the max. It sounds like your TV goes from -10 to some number instead of 0.

The text I was referring to was the Blu-ray discs main menus and the PS3 text all over the screen where u can listen to music and watch the video clips

It should be smooth, yet very defined. It shouldn't be so soft that you can't clearly see each letter, likewise you shouldn't be able to see the pixel arrangement in the fonts in the PS3 GUI or anything, so not that sharp either. If he previously had his sharpness setting much higher, the correct setting may look softer to him, while still being right.

Chances are the minimum sharpness is the correct one... The sharpness ranges (much like contrast, brightness, etc. ranges) are way too large... there's no need for 90% of the sharpness range they provide on any TV I've seen. It only ends up hurting -- the name sharpness is also sort of misleading, I mean, sharpness sounds like a good thing, so people will naturally crank it higher than they should... though it should really be called "Noise" instead.
