The Girl Who Played With Fire 4/5

Very good movie, but not as good as "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". Can't wait to see "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest".

The Human Centipede.

Very unique movie to say the least. The 'Doctor' was played brilliantly, but the movie as a whole was rather boring. Will have to wait to see if a sequel is announced.

Supposedly it is the first of a trilogy. 12 people will be in the centipede by the end.

Tom Six on His Human Centipede Sequel Source: ShockTillYouDrop.com April 20, 2010

ShockTillYouDrop.com talked to The Human Centipede (First Sequence) writer/director Tom Six about the sequel, titled The Human Centipede (Full Sequence). He says he starts shooting the follow-up to the disturbing film this June in the UK. Here's a clip:

"I want to make sure the sequel is original and something cool. That's a challenge. I have some stuff in the script that will, I hope, amaze the audience. I can tell you it's going to be a huge centipede - with twelve people. But what happens in it is something we don't expect."

For more of the interview, go here. You can also watch a second clip from the film here.

I ponder this because the other people on the yacht participate in the cycle in some sort of repetative fashion as well. At first I thought they were not doubles and Jess was just visiting them at different times. However, the evidence that they are doubles is that we see them appear and board the oceanliner, while the other group is already aboard. What is their role? Are they stuck in this purgatory as well?

That
[Show spoiler]pile of Jessies
was a great moment. Confirmation that this had been
[Show spoiler] going on for quite some time.

[Show spoiler]I actually don't see a need to analyze why the loop itself is reset because I think it being a form of Hell is enough. On that note, I wouldn't call it purgatory becauser purgatory is essentially a stop on the way to either hell or heaven, and Jess is clearly being punished and, imo, has no chance of getting to heaven. If I were to analyze it, I'd go with the storm route because there's a lot of mythology that can be thrown in there. I def wouldn't go with long and lat, because it already irks me in a way that the title misleads ppl to believing it's another cliche Bermuda triangle film, which it has nothing to do with at all.

I do wonder about the role of the other ppl and why they're there. The movie gives us absolutely no clue about it, to the point that any guess is as good as any other. I almost think that they too have done something terrible like Jess and that when they die, they might get a brief reprieve before the cycle continues again. However, this theory falls through in that there's not a double of them on the boat killing ppl like there is for Jess, and there is no indication that they're aware at any point of what's going on.

One of my big questions, which you haven't touched on yet, is why there's the "creepy" Jess on the boat, the really crazy one. I don't see the point of her being like that and I think the writer thought he had to throw in a bit of horror movie cliche. Idk.

Did you order it, btw?

Very interested to see it. It's the best book of the three, but I can see it being more difficult to adapt than the first. The third book is very hard to adapt. Glad to hear you liked it though because many ppl who loved the first were very disappointed because of the new director and the low budget.

I never read the books but the movies are great. There were a lot of details and story twists in the 2nd movie, yet it seemed a bit rushed with a runtime of only 2 hours. The first movie was 30 minutes longer and had a better pacing. Maybe the swedish extended tv cut will solve this "problem"?

The Karate Kid (2010) - Wow I dont know where to begin. The movie is fascinating. While it pays homage to the original it definitely stands alone and stands firmly well. First and foremost Jaden Smith is a budding star right before our eyes and people are strongly wrong in my eyes for saying he cannot act! He was charming, had charisma, and show emotions that I never seen of a supposed 11 or 12 year old kid. The character development of this film was tremendous. I cared a lot for him and Jackie's character.

The comparisons to the original while they will always be there, but it was no comparisons. The original films will always have a place in my heart as I grew up on it. The remake was just as high spirited as the original if not more. There were several times the audience clapped as this film grabbed u and took us for a ride. This film had laughter, tragedy and a good mix of elements that make it a great film! It even surpassed my expectations and I was one of the only few that were behind the film from the gate.

I love the homage it paid while adding its on twist to each homage. In peticular the twist to the catching the fly, the wax on wax off homage but in its on right. I dont want to give to much away but for those that seen it I think u get my drift. The ending was as uplifting as I have seen in a long time. The crowd cheered and clapped for several scenes during the climaxx.

Overall I loved the film and enjoyed every minute of this 2 hour and 20 minute film. It wasnt to long by a long shot. I just hope people in the future give people the benefit of the doubt before pre judging. This may be the best remake of any film that I have seen. Well done.

Film Rating - 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!

I have not figured out the
[Show spoiler]"creepy" Jess thing yet. Honestly, I havent spent any time on her, but I SHOULD, and will. Lets see.....hmmmm. "Our" Jess chooses to roleplay as the crazy Jess because she knows it will get her knocked off of the boat, but where did the first Creepy Jess come from? Hmmmmmmmm.? Maybe the very first Jess arrived at the oceanliner and spent so much time there alone that she went a little batty. And then, when the next Jess showed up, that just blew he mind and sent her over the edge (no pun intended )

More thinking time required.

Yes, ordered.

Yeah, but what about all the nice sentances and mature word selection? Have you started a new medication or something?

Hmm. Well the second book is almost 200 pages longer than the first, and it's very complex, so more time undoubtedly would be needed. If you think that's complex, the third book is easily the most complex and meticulously plotted book I've ever read.

I def have to think about it too. I don't think I'll be very helpful in further discussion until I see the film again. Maybe I'll buy it...
