My Sony BDP-S1 played Pixar Shorts and the PTOC movies with no problems, though start-up is a tad pokey.

In my 90 blu collection of new titles, and old never once had a problem playing a title on the PS3.

There is not a Blu-ray player out there that will not play PCM. So I am not sure what you are trying to find out.
