Default Pixar Shorts Can't play since PS3 update 2.01 !

Is it normal that with the Firmware 2.00 I was able to watch the Pixar Shorts on my 60gig PS3, but now, it always stops after the warning message, on a blank screen ?

Just checked on mine, and it worked just fine. Not sure what the problem would be then maybe it is a bad disc?

EDIT: Got a 60g Ps3 with FW 2.01 also

I would try completly turning off your system, unplug it or whatever and try it again. A buddy of mine doesnt have problems after his firmware update so I am not quite sure what the issue could be. The only think I can think of is turning off the system and trying it again. That or the disc is scratched/smudged. Try cleaning that too. Do other titles still play?

it did it for me aswell, I sent got the disc replaced and the new one was doing the same thing so its not the disc but ive found a way to make it work, basically as soon as as you put the disc in and it begins with all the disney ads, you continuosly press the "next chapter" button on the ps3 remote, its the one with two arrows pointing to the right. Just keep pressing it and it will go through the warnings and FBI screen and then you should see the pixar lamp logo thing start to load and it works fine from there.

I FOUND !!!

When the screen goes black, you have to turn off your PS3, and then turn it on, let it load, and it's supposed to work :P It does for me !

I just noticed that mine does the same thing too. Like you, it used to work before, I don't remember the firmware version but it was on November 7th or so.

Hmm, that doesn't work for me. You mean use the power switch on the back to turn it off, and then turn it back on, right?

I also tried VenomXR8's "press chapter skip quickly" trick to no avail.

enjoy

On AVS, people have discovered that this problem only happens when your PS3 is set to output 1080p/24. If you turn that off, and power cycle twice, then the disc should play fine.

Alternatively, there is a workaround. You can leave your PS3 set to 1080p/24, and just fast forward through the disc's intro and promos. After you get through those, the rest of the disc should work correctly.

The AVS poster said he learned this from calling Disney BD tech support, who told him that Sony is aware of the issue and are working on a fix. (Here is his post.)

I had a "This disc cannot be played. 800xxxxx" error. But not with Pixar Shorts, just with any BDs in my collection. No matter which disc I put, it just wouldn't play.

What I did was something that kiko did, which is load the disc, then turn off the PS3 using the power button. So with the disc inside, turn it on again. It won't autoplay since the disc is already inside. Then press play and problem solved. Then the PS3 works with any other BDs.

My movies lay on the PS3 with no trouble at all as it is. Just a matter of balancing them on that silly curved top.

I called disney tech support and the guy was fully aware of the issue. He said sony knew as well and was working on a fix. It is not your disc. There are 2 ways you can get it to play. When the previews start fast foward for some reason this makes the disc load. The problem seems to be with 1080/24 so if you don't want to fast foward through the previews, turn 1080/24 to off and make sure you power cycle the ps3 a couple times. The second way is kind of a pain if you watch your bd's in 24fps so i suggest just fast fowarding.

Don't have a problem with P. Shorts, however, ever since I updated my firmware, any movie that I watch, sometime during the movie, the disc skips and either goes back or forward. Not even the a chapter stop. I don't have a clue.

It would be interesting to post a poll to see if the people who are not having issues are playing it at other than 24fps... I play at 24, and I am having issues
