The hits just keep on coming. The DUDs are downplaying this one too.

There's too much smoke not to be a fire. :P

there's another one. whats next spielberg saying it

i do think its very coincidental all these WB rumors started immediatley after Michael Bay exposing M$.

a lot of people are going to have their reputations tarnished, including are own Penton (im not sure if he has ever been wrong), if this does not come true, that is why i believe it will come true.

"With 750,000 HD DVD players and nearly 3 million Blu-ray players in homes, many analysts say both high-def disc formats will stay in business in 2008 and the years beyond. But Swann predicts that the Blu-ray forces, led by Sony and HD DVD's backers, led by Toshiba and Microsoft, will reach a compromise on a single format next year. He says the studios will push for a single format because most consumers will not buy high-def DVD players if there are two formats."

I heard this yesterday somewhere... this would be cool. This is how it should have ended to begin with.
I think you will see toshiba make bluray after they all sit down and give each other back rubs and make up haha

I think it's too late for that, unless the compromise is Blu-ray. But, I can't see Microsoft ever agreeing to a Java-based standard.

Amen brother.

Those clowns are going to be eating serious crow when this all goes down. They've been leading their followers like lambs to the slaughter, or better yet...

AVS reminds me of a place called Jonestown....

Again, as I posted a few weeks ago, don't think of the tech aspects of a solution. Think of a financial solution that will "allow" Toshiba to cease hostilities and move to a DUO player to support current HD DVD Libraries for a few years.

Looks like everyone is on to M$ now; I expect they'll be of little concern in this between Toshiba and the BDA. In fact, the demotion of Amir and Michael Bay's comment dovetail nice with this theory, doesn't it?

Thank god Hollywood figured this out before it was too late...

They can't come up with a new format and based on current data....sales figures for software.....HW (PS3).....studio support, etc.......it makes sense that Toshiba would make Blu-Ray players.

Now the real question is.....how do you make the transition less painful for current HD DUD owners? Or do you?

Maybe offer discounts to registered HD DUD player owners towards the purchase of a Toshiba Blu-Ray player?

Maybe MS will be left in the cold while Toshiba jumps ship.

Agreed, it has to be one of the current formats for sure.

"Swanni predicts that Warner Bros., which now releases movies on both Blu-ray and HD DVD, will endorse Blu-ray exclusively in early 2008. He says that the endorsement will give Blu-ray the backing of five major studios to HD DVD's two and it will help push the two sides to negotiate a single format in 2008."

My fave quote which backs my earlier post.
