I got Netflix back in August.

I just watched a great documentary last night called "This Film is Not Yet Rated"

It deals with the MPAA and their bull**** that fills this country.

I highly recommend it being as how it's film related, and this is a film website.

American Pimp-
American Pimp is a 1999 documentary that examines the pimp subculture in the United States. It was directed by the Hughes Brothers, the filmmakers behind Menace II Society and Dead Presidents.

The documentary consists of first person interviews of people involved in the pimping lifestyle. The interviews are separated by short clips from 1970's blaxploitation films such as Willie Dynamite, The Mack, and Dolemite.

American Movie-
American Movie is a 1999 documentary directed by Chris Smith. The film chronicles the 1996-1997 making of Coven, an independent horror film directed by an independent filmmaker named Mark Borchardt and depicts his poor financing and lack of planning which causes production for the film to be nearly impossible to complete. The documentary follows Borchardt's filmmaking process from script to screen, and is interspersed with footage from both developing projects.

Lost in La Mancha-

Lost in La Mancha (2002) is a documentary film narrated by Jeff Bridges about Terry Gilliam's failed first attempt to make The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, a film adaptation of the novel Don Quixote. Lost in La Mancha presents Gilliam's quest to make this movie as a parallel to Quixote's quest to become a hero.

What is "any documentary or whatever u never what is actually the truth so that can be a dime a dozen" supposed to mean? A documentary should be something that "documents" an event, person, place, etc. When a film maker has a clear bias and manipulates the footage away from the truth to prove their preconceived point it is no longer a documentary, even if the Academy still pats themselves on the back because they awarded a little gold statue.
Dude u sound upset like u know Michael Moore. All I am saying is even in documentaries things can be docked and edited just as u have said about this peticular documentary. If this is true about Michael's movie then thats fine but I never heard anything about it. I still thought it was a great documentary nonetheless. Got Em!!

There's a reason why an updated version of it had to be made--there was blatant and purposeful misinformation throughout, which they were called out for. The final result wasn't any better though. Case in point: selecting one sentence out of a transcript, without context, to convey a point. What's wrong with this? When that sentence, in context, was stated facetiously and the previous sentence and ensuing sentence even state that but are omitted. All copies of it should be burned.

One of the most shocking things I have ever experienced in a film format! It is mandatory that every human being watch this documentary. Anyone who doesn't get affected by it has no soul... by my opinion.

The documentary goes well beyond its subject matter in the context of how humanity has let their ego run rampant to the point of God-like attitudes over everything on this planet.

Such a sad state of affairs.

Another one along the same lines is called Earthlings. Be forewarned about this one though. It is VERY DISTURBING! It shows how the food requirements of the planets population have turned the business into a breeding ground for torturous behaviour towards the animals we consume. And, there is plenty of footage to show what happens to these animals in order to keep up with the demand. Narrated by Joaquin Pheonix, it actually made me try to become a vegetarian after watching it. Of course, I only lasted a week before I needed to return my diet back to normal. But, I can honestly say that I will never look at any meat product quite the same... ever again.

For All Mankind Blu-ray/Criterion Collection:
"The story of the twenty-four men who traveled to the Moon, told in their words, in their voices, using the images of their experiences. Forty years later, it remains the most radical, visually dazzling work of cinema yet made about this earth-shaking event."

Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life:

"Perhaps the most widely read philosopher of the 20th century, Ayn Rand has delighted and infuriated people of all ideologies and, like it or not, has helped to create the political realities we deal with every day. With Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life you can follow her life story, from her childhood in the turbulent years of revolution in her native Russia to her great success as a popular writer and deep thinker in the United States. This comprehensive look at a fascinating woman uses interviews with friends and colleagues, family photos, clips of her speaking, and great moments from the films she wrote to portray a complex, passionate person with the brains to articulate her ideals and the guts to stand up for them. Trying to get work in 1930s Hollywood wasn't easy for such a rabid anti-Communist, but Rand persisted and the tales of her life in the theater, her lifelong relationship with actor Frank O'Connor, and her midlife career change from novelist to political philosopher are both inspiring and dramatic, just as she'd want them to be. --Rob Lightner"

Well, Michael Moore makes "opinionated" documentaries. However, I saw the revelation that he had edited a Senator's comments - taking them completely out of context. Very shameful.

I never saw the movie because of that and won't see anything else he does. I don't mind if someone wants to provide a point of view - but don't lie to me or manipulate me. Now, I'll never know what is true, which makes his documentaries worthless.
