If I'm going to watch a movie surrounded by trailer trash, I'll do it from the comfort of my living room. At least the food is fresher!

I dont go to the movie theaters any more either , WHY??? My home is a Hi Def theater , & there aren't a bunch of Dumb asses coughing/sneezing on the back of my neck, kids & other 'adults' talking & kicking my wife and eye's seat's, cell phones going off, people stepping all over you trying to get to the exit & I could go on & on & on...Hell the price of 2 tickets is almost the price of a Blu-ray movie! The only draw back is the wait for the BD to be release so I can finally watch it! I live in the 7th largest city in the U.S. & there are no DLP theaters hear as far as I know, if there were I would go check that out for sure ( we do have IMAX ) but that does not change all the other crappy stuff about the movies. I still end up at the movies when a buddy has FREE special screening passes , you no a week or two before it is released DOES ANYBODY ELSE FEEL THE SAME HEAR??????????????

+1

I saw I Am Legend yesterday and loved it, but there were only 3 other people in the theater. The last movie I watched in theater was The Departed. I waited for Bourne Ultimatum and POTC#3 and watched them at home in ~1080i and 1080p respectively!

Default home

I have a 62" tv and I prefer watching blurays at home vs movies in the theater. The picture and sound is better at my house. Going to the movies is more about the social thing, then the movie. Its nice sometimes, and some movies are fun to see on the really big screen, but all in all I love my home theater.

I don't see anything pleasant about going to a movie theater. First of all, the general public is there. Have you seen these people? I've never seen a projection in a theater that is as good was what I've seen on Blu-ray, and I get theater sound at home too.

Generally I wait for Blu-ray. There are exceptions. Certain films, no matter how good a home Blu-ray theatre is, look best on a big wide screen. Especially the films shot in 65mm and released on 70mm, or the old Cinerama films, etc. It's the scale.

But if you like the excitement of immature idiots trying to prove some theory that we are all actually descended from apes rather than share a common ancestor, I guess the movie theatre is the place to test this theory.

I can understand why so many people prefer watching movies at home, where you can control your own environment.

But, to me, there's still something romantic about going to the movies, and experiencing it together with a group of strangers. But its getting tougher to tolerate. Society is quickly devolving, and people talk and don't give a crap about disturbing their neighbors. Which drives me crazy.

Nowadays, whenever possible, I go to the "Premier" section of our local movie theater. Which offers assigned balcony VIP seating, in extremely comfortable loveseats, along with other perks. It's like $20 a ticket, but its going to the movies first class, all the way. And at that price, you're almost never surrounded by the typical rude morons.

Good point. But to me the live theatre satisfies that (though it is a lot more expensive). In the live theatre actors have been known to step out-of-character and really skewer audience members who are rude. That is sometimes quite interesting to see.

But is live theater in person as sharp as 1080p?! I think NOT!
