What inputs are on the Pioneer? Digital Coax? Optical? HDMI? What's the model number of the Pioneer?

What's your Blu-ray player? We can help you out, o confused one, but we need some info!

work together should, sound will be just so, meaning the unit is crippled with only dolby digital and not the new formats of dolby true hd or dts-hd master audio so you will never get the full audio performance blu-ray has to offer
but having such a limited system you probably are not a audiophile anyway
so go ahead enjoy the improvement in picture and in time you can upgrade or system to handle the newer audio formats

From what I can read, your sound system doesn't have optical input and the HDMI is only for the built-in DVD player. If your system also doesn't have coaxial input, buying a BD player will give you a great video presentation but will do little for audio.
