Get Smart

No proper review for this one.

I laughed twice and chuckled twice, 3 of the four were from Dwayne Johnson.

as a movie in general but absolutely horrid as a comedy.

Steve Carrel is, in my opinion, one of the most unfunny people to have ever walked the Earth.

Dwayne Johnson (in a small part), Terry Crews (in a VERY small part), Terrence Stamp and Anne Hathaway each made the movie better for me though to some extent.

But it wasn't enough unfortunately.

Rating - 2.75/5

For Comedy - 0.5/5

mine would be...

[Show spoiler]127 Hours - blind buying. anxious to see it

Black Swan - blind buying. extremely anxious to see it

The Fighter - will rent first. no rush to see it.

Inception 3.5/5 i find it laughable for those who think this has any chance of winning BP - and that was well before Nolan got "shafted" out of a Best Director nomination

The Kids Are All Right - will see eventually. may be a few years though. odd selection for a BP nominee

The King's Speech - will see eventually. sooner rather than later.

The Social Network 5/5 - currently, easily my selection as Best Picture of the Year

Toy Story 3 5/5 - loved it, of course.

True Grit - a bit interested. will see because of the leads, but not gonna see it for awhile

Winter's Bone - i'll see it because of some praise it's gotten in this thread, but seems like another odd selection
You must see The Fighter as soon as possible

As for your part you wrote in the quote:

The King's Speech - Maybe seeing this instead of The Fighter, will eventually watch

The Social Network - Seen - Thought it was great

Toy Story 3 - Seen - Thought it was great

True Grit - Watching next Friday

Winter's Bone - Not interested
Can't say which to see over the other (King's Speech vs Fighter) but The Fighter was a GREAT movie that I HIGHLY recommend

Is it okay that for some reason I read that in the voice of Jar Jar Binks?

I had to make room for another quote, brotha.

Couldn't ditch the Hurley quote

Also...I'll be watching Training Day later. Figured quoting Czar was an appropriate time to mention watching a Denzel movie

The funny thing is Training Day is considered by many Denzel's best film and while it is very good its not close to being his best film in my book. Also I think his Oscar for that film was given due to all the other Oscar's he shouldve won. It was a makeup in my book although he did do a great job. Im sure u will like it. Got Em!!

I laughed pretty well for "Get Smart," and found the movie quite entertaining overall.

I hated "Johnny English" though.

I have a strange sense of humor sometimes...

I loved Get Smart also, coming up soon in the collection and I think Steve Carell is hilarious, would seem Roger Ebert agrees. Watching the animated Alice in Wonderland.

Training Day is a lame movie full of bogus events. Pure crap as far as realism is concerned.

Czar, calm down. I am not ripping on Denzel. He was fine in this. Actually he was darn good. But the movie sucked. Fake as hell.

Tuesday is half price cinema ticket day.

I'm planning to see:

127 Hours at 2:10
The Fighter at 4:10
True Grit at 6:40

Already own Toy Story 3 and Inception.

Borrowing The Kids Are All Right this week.

Will see Black Swan and The King's Speech later in the week as they are not at the cheap Tuesday cinema.

That leaves The Social Network (may buy) and Winter's Bone (may buy) and I will have seen the 10 nominees for best film.

Will give at an easy 8.5/10.
I was not aware this even existed. A definite must see for me. Thanks.

How do I score a film?:
My system is similar to a strict academic scale. An "A" would be a 4.5/5. An "A+" or outstanding movie would be a 5/5. My scores don't average around a 2.5 because then that's saying I think half of all movies I watch are bad or terrible, which is not the case. A movie doesn't have to do much to earn a 2 or 2.5, similarly to how you would have to be entirely mentally absent to get lower than a 25-50% on an exam. It just has to be "passable". If I think it was a waste of time or a failure, then it deserves a failing grade, and the degree to which it failed (very slightly to miserably) is reflected in a 0.5-2.5/5 score.
