I would go on; but there's nothing really to say. Disney was never going to take any chances, but they took "not taking chances" to the limit, they made a film that offers nothing either way.

Its reliance on formula is too heavy, I agree. Nostalgia is JJ's favorite (e.g. Super 8). But I also took it as a strength that the film (in my eyes) succeeds despite having had to walk such a fine line ("playing it safe"). There were so many ways it could have gone wrong given the expectations and the fanbase.
