What a smug reply. Looking over your collection I see a serious void in the comedy genre. And by void, I only see one comedy and that is from 75
years ago.

Maybe you take yourself a tad too seriously?

Take a couple film classes in college did ya? Your collection reeks of elitism.
lol @ 'The Battleship Potemkin,' that sure has a lot of rewatchablitiy.(yes I made this word up)

For the other posters question, I hope so. I absolutely loved 'The Royal Tenenbaums.' Surely it will arrive on Blu-Ray this year.

I would say in response to everyone that I am sure lots of people (myself included) think Potemkin has rewatchability. I will also say, however, that there is an anti-Wes Anderson strain on this thread that continues to baffle me. People get angry at anyone who attacks certain filmmakers, unless that filmmaker is Wes Anderson, who apparently is fair game. I for one, would love to see Rushmore on blu, and look forward to Criterion releasing it. If nothing else, for those that hate Wes Anderson, I would remind you that sales of his films likely generate significant revenue, which in the end will help Criterion release other films that we all want to see.

Sweet Smell of Success just dropped to $25.99 on Amazon. I swore to myself I was going to wait to buy it until there is another Barnes and Noble sale, but this is really starting to get hard to resist.

Hopefully Amazon catches up with the "pre-order" crowd. I ordered this two days ago at $27.99...I would hope they'll make a price adjustment soon...Beta?

I don't think it's anti-Wes Anderson. It's more of a plea to release blu-rays for directors that don't have CC BR release yet. Some on here (myself included) tire of the incessant cries for more CC Anderson when directors like Rivette (0), Resnais (1), Jarmush (1), Ozu (0), etc have little or no BR releases.

That is a sentiment that I totally agree with (Ghost Dog, anyone?)...although I have a hard time complaining since I don't know what they are working on, what they have rights for, etc. It's worth remembering though that Criterion has only released two Wes Anderson films on blu. Obviously when you consider the number of films he has made, the proportion is higher, but for example they just released as many Fuller films in one week. Again, just an observation, not a complaint...I hope we get more Fuller soon.

I do think, however, that there is a lot of hate for Wes Anderson around here--which is fine, everyone can have an opinion. What I don't understand is the need to be dismissive of people who like Anderson though, which seems to happen around here. On the other hand, it does make for some entertaining reading...

Already on the list. I am really hyped about getting it. The Criterion trailer rocks.

This is my most awaited announced Criterion release at the moment but I wish Amazon would match their own DVD price, which is -45% @ $21.99.

Agreed. As much as the "regulars," myself included, try to deny it, we're all a bunch of b*tchy film snobs to some degree... some just more extreme than others.

Do we need to call Dana White and ask him to have a Wes Anderson MMA match on pay per view?

Some people in the thread don't like Wes, and others do. I see no need for members to take Wes Anderson comments personally.

Greek's comment was snarky, but I did not see it as some kind of personal indictment on the member he responded to. It was about Wes.

"The Rock", "Armageddon" and "Chasing Amy" all came to Blu-ray without their Criterion supplements so I'm going to assume that the licensing agreement that resulted in Criterion editions of Wes Anderson's three Disney-controlled movies is now similarly expired.

On the other hand, the fact that Disney didn't just go forward with non-Criterion releases of his three movies could possibly suggest that Anderson is trying to work something out between Disney and Criterion.

That's just speculation though. The fact that the Disney/Criterion partnership hasn't extended into the Blu-ray era is certainly something to consider in regards to "Rushmore", "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "The Life Aquatic".

Even if some posters are acerbic or snide with their comments, that doesn't negate the fact that the members they reply to should not take the comments about Wes Anderson personally.

It would be nice if the posts were all in the manner you spoke of. That isn't going to happen.

Haha, I remember you telling me about your man-crush awhile back. I appreciate it. I will definitely remember you as a fan and most importantly, a friend, on this board. Touching, ain't it?

Oh, and I am in college taking film classes. I'm only a confused 19 year old boy with a fragile mind. If my collection is "elitist", then I surely hope I continue that trend in the future, because I love what I have.

STAY ON TOPIC, and leave the personal attacks and name-calling out of your posts..... for examples of "snarky wit" within the rules, see the posts of the more "Seasoned veterans" already mentioned

I think they're both great..... but "No" you shouldn't really blind-buy any of those.

Well, Veronique is on its way, so I'll hope for the best on that one (at least the lead actresses attractiveness will keep me attentive if all else fails). As for the fuller, I'll either wait for the B&N sale or simply use my Netflix. But I'm almost at the point where I want all of the spine numbers no matter what

Has anyone crunched the numbers to see what it would cost to purchase all of the Criterion titles in print? I shudder at the thought.
