Default Why can't all studios be like FOX.

I just got Mr. and Mrs. Smith today and all I can say was WOW !
The picture, the sound, they just blew me away. I know their movies cost more but it's worth every pennies. I rented "Prison Break" before and the picture just blew me away on that one too.
Keep up the good work Fox you just made me a one happy customer.

well in fairness to Disney and Sony they have been great too. The only ones who have disappointed on a regular basis have been WB with the HD-DVD transfers onto BD. Some of the titles are good but some are very disappointing.

Bah, I will say it like this:

-Disney
-Sony
-Fox

Disney for pristine PQ and always including PCM has to be first.

I thought you were going to say with the seemingly unending sale on their titles. the frys here in sd has all the movies marked as 13.99 even on the box. I wonder if fox is going to lower their msrp on some titles. that would be cool.

I think though, the OP is correct in his praise for Fox. They have been the most consistent. While almost all the studios started off with mpeg-2 transfers, Fox's has always absolutely looked good, and in turn made their AVC's look that much better. Even Disney and Sony early in the game, their titles weren't always that good. And while Disney always includes uncompressed, it's not always five-star quality, that's just the truth. While Fox's DTS HD tracks always seem to outperform on a regular basis some of the dirty uncompressed audio tracks. So, I agree that every studio should want to be like Fox.

WB is being held down by the anchor that is HD-DVD.

Sunshine is about a crew of people that are trying to re-ignite a dying sun. They are in this gigantic shielded spaceship with a device that will cause a reaction to make the sun "re-ignite". It has excellent acting and fantastic cinematography.

bugger that. fox uses dts-ma, which i find annoying, but that's because of the ps3's inability to deal. i'd prefer uncompressed PCM audio or trueHD just cause i can listen to it in all its glory.

fox actually represents the least studio's titles that i own. disney has the lion's share.

that's not to say fox has nothing to offer. they do, but they ain't on blu (yet?)

Fox is second to Sony in terms of releasing titles on BD-25 with MPEG-2 encode.
Since the Paramount/Dreamworks announcement Fox has become consistent in terms of delivering top notch PQ and SQ. However their high pricing along with the no-show of Extras, frequent date bumps and flimsy casing are spoiling their reputation. No one is going to doubt their commitment to Blu-ray format but how much customer friendly their overall strategy is all that matters.

Yes Fox does have some great titles, but I agree with most people that Disney has it hands down. Not to mention that most of their titles are cheaper than Fox too. Hopefully Fox will be bringing out more and more titles this year, hopefully with both PCM and DTS-MA.

I agree with you 100%. I also have almost all of Disney’s films, the only ones which I do not have are the sport films, and I hate sport films. I have a few FOX titles, I mean what is up with their prices, even their one and only BOBO was too much for me to afford. FOX should reduce their MSRP to $30. Look at Disney’s films, they have perfect PQ and AQ, and they always have their BOGO sales, yet they keep their prices low. So far based on my opinion, Disney is the only 100% true Blu supporter.

As a studio putting out the best PQ and AQ it's simply Disney in the lead by far!

Since I can hear the audio from Fox I like them. I rate the Blu-ray Studios this way Disney for PQ Fox for AQ. Overall Disney does win but the AQ is not as good as Fox.
