Looks like us Canadians won't be getting any steelbooks from foreign countries for a while
![]() ![]() Canada Post Forced to Shut Down Urban Operations Nationwide Following 12 days of increasingly costly rotating strikes by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), Canada Post has suspended operations across the country. The accelerating decline in mail volumes and revenue combined with the inability to deliver mail on a timely and safe basis has left Canada Post with no choice but to make this decision. Specifically, we have taken this action for the following reasons: Rotating strikes have had a significant impact on short-term revenue. Canada Post’s losses are approaching $100 million since the rotating strikes began – and that figure is climbing daily; Over the past few days, several incidents have raised concerns about the ability to move the mail while keeping employees and customers safe; Canada Post and CUPW remain far apart on several fundamental issues and there has been no progress made at the negotiating table for weeks. If we allow the uncertainty created by the rotating strikes to continue, we will not be able to remain financially self-sufficient and risk becoming a burden on Canadian taxpayers. We believe that a lockout is the best way to bring a timely resolution to this impasse and force the union to seriously consider proposals that address declining mail volumes and the $3.2-billion pension deficit. Canada Post continues to believe that the best result from this round of bargaining is a negotiated settlement. The company had hoped to reach an agreement without a disruption in postal services, which is why the company has made every effort to protect the pay, pension and job security of existing employees. Plans are in place to secure all mail that is left in the system during the lockout, and to resume normal operations quickly once the current situation is resolved. Customers of Canada Post can find updated information about the company’s labour situation online at http://clients.infopost.ca/en/. The French version of the website can be found at http://clients.infopost.ca/fr/. |

My Paul and True Grit UK steels are still in the mail system, I'm hoping they don't get lost or anything with this service interruption. Plus it sucks that I've paid for the items and I won't get them when I should

Hey Fan of gaming. Says in you signature you work at Futureshop? If so, Is there a limit on how many new release Steelbooks one can buy at a time? I went to checkout one time with 11 Green Hornets

![]() If you don't mind a bit of confrontation, you could always ask them to show you proof of the "1 per customer" or just say something like "so you're telling me I can't spend hundreds of dollars at your store" haha ![]() ![]() Last edited by Fan_Of_Gaming; 06-15-2011 at 05:14 AM. |

I think with princess and the frog. The employee was lazy to walk to the back and get me more copies. It was 7pm on release day, and he didn't even have them on the shelves yet. As for the Green Hornet incident. I have dealt with the cashier before. Never has she cared. But on that day the manager just so happened to walk by. For some stupid reason she asks the manager.
![]() Back on topic. I have Steelies to send out soon. Hope the strike won't be too long. |

This really, really sucks. I have some very important packages that need to be shipped out, and I have to mail some documents to the US. Hope this lockout doesn't take too long. Two friends of mine who work for Canada Post want this lockout to end ASAP - it's their union being unable to accept anything.

Personally I think Canada Post is right in this dispute, the mail system is becoming somewhat antiquated with the emphasis on online; whether it be email, paying bills online, facebook, etc; and cost reductions are necessary. |

You are right regarding the unions. Their day has come and GONE. Nothing like selling your soul for a 1.5% increase per year. Yet the union dues goes up every year. The unions protect the incompetent lackies while the honest worker gets the shaft with the so called collective bargaining status. Back on track...this sucks for the members who are awaiting for their steelbooks. |

A couple of my buddies, one with the Union and the other with Canada Post Management, are both fed up with this crap. They have been there long enough that they don't even care anymore. |

Sadly, a union is necessary to make sure employers don't do anything illegal these days. |

ran, I know I can go to the US and ship from there, but it's a real inconvenience having to do that. If this takes too long (hopefully not longer than a few days to a week) I may just use UPS or FedEx or something, as this is a bit time sensitive.
If it's being shipped via CP it might. Knowing Amazon.ca though, they might just use UPS while this lockout continues - most of my recent shipments from there have been via UPS. |
