Will WB re-release current Blu movies at higher bitrates?

yeah probably will be a while, but do you think Batman begins, V for Vendetta, Matrix, etc. movies that are currently HD exclusive get a bitrate boost before they come to the Blu side?

I soooooo want Batman Begins. Batman Begins and Serenity are the only to titles it brothers me HD DVD has. Casino also, but because its not that great of a transfer I am content with not having it.

And exactly what would be the most preferable bitrate anyways?.

Would ppl really only be happy with %100 uncoded, uncompressed?.Bd uses such a high-eeeficieny codec, there must be a point that he film would look perfect.To be honest, thought it did already, and any PQ issues would just be film grain.

I'm not for certain but I believe most HD-DUD releases are encoded at sub 20mb/s.

HD-DUD is limited to no more than 30mb/s for video, but encoding a movie at 30mb/s for HD would probably leave it no room for audio or features...if it could even store a movie encoded at 30mb/s on a disc.

Blu-ray's max video bitrate is 40mb/s and still has room for uncompressed audio and features on a BD-50 disc. It can handle 48mb/s if you include the audio.

And do you see any compression artifacts in BD, or would you prefer higher?.Don't know how much quality there is to squeeze out of old film releases.

Most preferable to me is about an average of 30mbps with occasonal spikes to 40 during high action scenes for video. The problems really begin when trying to go below 15mbps (there are many examples).

As far as codec wise, I prefer AVC. VC-1 for some reason looks a little 'off' to me. Don't get me wrong, high bitrate VC-1 is nice, but I don't think it compares to AVC for the tiniest details.

As far as audio, this isn't a problem. Blu has enough audio bandwidth set aside that all releases can have PCM tracks. I'd prefer TrueHD or DTSMA for space considerations if it means the average bit rate goes up.

It would be cheaper for WB to release the same encode on bd, also faster as well. They already looked awesome on HD DVD ( i do own those movies) but id like to get BD versions..if only because I wouldnt have to flip the Matrix movies over to watch the special features.

Every studios should be banned from using 25GB.

I'm pretty all the newer re-encoded master will utilize all the capacity available. But remember theyre still gonna support HD-DVD until may. So the movies releasing between now then then will be using the same master.

I hope so. Warner has a number of movies that are (for my personal taste in films) "marginal". These are films that I would buy if they were top notch encodes from good originals but did not buy because they were kept in "lower quality" to conform to HD-DVD standards. There are some films that I bought (such as Blade Runner) even though they didn't have the highest bit rate video transfer and/or not the highest audio. Some of these (such as Blade Runner and a number of others) I would "double dip" on if the quality were increased in the future. And I would do this knowing, for a number of them, that the improvement in quality was slight.
