Upconverted DVD Vs Blu-Ray - Difference On Screen Size

Of course, like Blu-Ray transfers, not all DVDs are created equally and some DVDs such as the digitally remastered Ultimate Edition James Bond or Superbit movies look "HD Quality" like upscaled.

I have a 32" LCD TV and some times I have a hard time telling the difference between the two. However, when I watch them on my 60", it is clearly apparent Blu-ray is superior.

I think it is a big advertisting point for us to prove to the uneducated consumer there is a major difference between upconverted SD and BD. Pushing HD audio of course helps too.

it is probably some really bad BD transfer, or something is colossaly wrong with Your setup... as i said zillions of times, huge difference is visible even on a smallest monitors/tvs today even on 720p... there's no point in any debate or need for proving such a simple fact that upconverted dvd is still just a little better standard dvd, light years behind BD (what is the name of that hddvd idiot who said he preferred upc. dvds over hd?)... today i use Samsung 37'' 1080p but year before i started with 24'' Dell, and 2 yrs ago even apple HD trailers, way from true BD movies, looked uncomparably better on 20'' monitor then any sdvd... It is simply uncomparabele. Period. Unless U watch movies from 20 ft or more, of course.

Nothing is wrong with my setup. There just are unfortunately subpar BD transfers i.e. "XXX" that do not look any better than a good looking DVD i.e. "Transformers" upscaled.

No one has ever experienced a similar situation?

XXX was one of the first crap that Sony Picture put on BluRay back in June/July 2006. Most title released back then (on BD25) with PCM + MPEG2 were crappy..

that's what she said .....anyway.....upconvert looks pretty good on my 50". I have played SDVD's in my progressive scan player and the PS3, the upscale on the PS3 is a tiny bit better but the progressive scan player doesn't have as many pixels swimming around in the background..it all depends on your preference there...I doubt you would notice the difference on a smaller tv if you were just watching an SDVD but if you are compairing SDVD to BRD I think 20" and up you would notice a difference as it is alot more crisp on the BRD....
