Is the European release of PS3 going to be the Coup de grâce for HD DVD?

I believe that the biggest difference is; that HDTV has been broadcasted a while now in the US and Japan. So you guys are used to that quality, and people want their bought movies to have the same or better quality.

This is not the case in most of Europe. HDTV is slowly coming around, but it's still basically non-existant. So most people don't know what they're missing out on...yet.
