besides that, Sony developed Blu-ray first in 2002, which was the same year the BDA was formed. 2004 was a major year in demonstrating Blu-ray technology and developing it furthur. It wasn't until mid-august 2006 when Sony released its first Blu-ray player. In August 2006, 100 and 200 gb disks were created and demonstrated.

actualy the first blu-ray player or optical drive on the market was in japan feb 10th 2003...it was in a protective cart. an the speed was 1x
