Default My new PC specs let me knw what ya think!!!

2.8GHz 2nd Generation Intel Core i7-2600S processor; 8MB Cache
8GB system memory (2x4GB)
1.0TB hard drive
SuperMulti DVD Burner
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Radeon HD 6570 Graphics with 1GB DDR3 dedicated memory
6-speaker configurable audio with up to 5.1 surround sound capabilities
Connectivity options include 10/100 Ethernet LAN and Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n
15-in-1 memory card reader
Ports include 6 x USB 2.0
Includes HP USB Keyboard and optical mouse
Dimensions: 16.34"(H) x 6.88"(W) x 16.22"(D)
Weight: 24.2 lb.
1-year limited warranty

I am wondering if i made a mistake by not getting one with USB 3.0, Blue Tooth & A Gigabit Ethernet Port. I only have a 1mbps wireless internet connection, so am not sure if a Gigabit Ethernet is necessary at this point.( I can add these things if need via open PCIe ports. I paid $907 including tax. The specs on this PC blow my old PC away, witch was.

An AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.8ghz CPU,128mb video card, 1.25GB of ram, 70GB HD

I love my new PC so far it super fast for my needs, yet am still obsessing about the 3 features i don't have features i wont necessary use. I think its just me being a little to anal.

So what do you guys think? Also keep in mind I could not shop online for cheaper deals ect.

Here is the link to the PC I bought.

I fixed original post with the proper link. I use my ps3 as my Blu-Ray player, so I don't need one in my PC at this time. I can add one later on if I choose to do so.

I use Win 7 Home 64 and really like it but if I were doing it again I would probably pay the price bump for Professional.

I've run into a handful of XP programs (Cisco client, an older version of Clone DVD are the two that come to mind atm) that won't run on Home 64 that make me wish for XP mode.

It's hardly a deal-breaker (VMWare virtual boxes are a somewhat clunky but free workaround) but it's something to keep in mind.

It asks me for a postal code as well. So, it's a HP desktop? I saw the "HP USB Keyboard and optical mouse" so I just assumed. I'd like to know what type of 1TB hard drive it is and the memory type. Also, did it come with a monitor?

"Ripped off" is all in the eye of the beholder. I would say yes but I like to build a computer, instead of buying pre-built ones. All depends on what you're comfortable with doing. 90% you can get better quality hardware when building one yourself.

+1... Obviously

I think for 1000$ tax in you could have gotten a much better system but as long as you are happy with it that's all that matters. The thing that sucks about buying pre built like Gateway or HP, is that the computer is built for what's inside and nothing else so upgrading or replacing hardware is almost nearly impossible not to mention on the ads and crap software that's pre installed on your computer.

I Am happy with it, but also a little bummed out that it does not have USB 3.0 built in, Blu-Ray drive, Gigabit Ethernet and the fact that 8gb ram is the max this PC can have. I don't know if its because the mobo only supports 8GB Ram 2 slots, or if its because they only sell 4gb sticks of ram. I can add a Blu-Ray drive and USB 3.0, but I think I would have to change the psu as it is only 300watts.

The specs are over kill for my needs, but I could have gotten better if I had waited longer. As it is I have been waiting a for 2 1/2 years and what it came down too was i could not stop thinking abut getting a new PC it was driving me crazy, thus I bought one i could afford. I guess it my fault for not having the discipline to wait longer.

No this PC did not come with a monitor. For now am using an Acer AL1916W hooked up via DVI. I will be getting a 25inch LED Monitor in a week or too.

I had a custom PC priced out for me back in September priced a $1,354.87.
Looking at the specs sheet custom Pc it does have better specs then the HP I got. It has an ASUS M4A88T-M/USB 3.0 MOBO, AMD PHENOM II X6 1100T AM3 3.33GHZ, SAPPHIRE RADEON 6770 PCIe 1GB, 650W PSU ECT. it would have came with Windows 7 of course.

So would i have been better off getting this custom PC or the HP. I have 7 days left to bring this hp PC back. Do you guys think i would be better off doing so???

Please let me know.

It's alright. I know the feeling. When I bought my first computer I didn't know anything about pc's. I'm not saying you don't, just saying I didn't at the time. It was a Dell Dimension (forgot the model #), stacked to the gills for hardware at that time and I blew $3,000+ on it.....still makes me shudder to this day and that was over a decade ago. lol After that debacle I quickly got educated and started building my own.

What motherboard make/model is in your new computer?

Also, what is your power supply's amp rating for the 12v rail? It should say on the side of it.

Even for $1,354 for that custom was a ripoff so I wouldn't have went with that choice either.

Next time, please feel free to ask us on here for hardware suggestions. You can easily easily build a nice high-end pc for $1,000 or less.

I know a lot about computers and for where I live and what I paid I think I got a good deal. I guess I forgot to tell you guys that buying online is not an option for me. I was upset because when I bought the PC I forgot do think about a blu-ray player and usb 3.0, Even if i had them i don't think i would have used them often, i think its more for bragging rights, then anything else.

I have a 40inch tv with a ps3 as my blu-ray player, So a blu-ray drive is not needed, yet on the other hand in dec 2011 it should have came with one.

Dude, I am still using a Dell Dimension 4100, haha!! This computer has a ~900mhz Pentium III processor, 512mb RAM, and a 3.5" floppy drive. I would estimate this computer is twelve years old. It's been upgraded for cheap many times over the years (extra RAM, a 75gb hard drive, first a CD-RW drive and later a DVD-ROM drive, a wireless networking card, a Radeon 9xxx video card, etc.). It has only two USB 1.0 slots on the back of the tower (doubt these would work with a wireless mouse if I tried ).

I disagree with your statement.

The cost to add a Blu-ray drive to every new computer would increase the price for everyone. Having the ability for each user to make the choice is better than forcing hardware on people they may not want to pay for.

Guys FYI if he lives in Canada the prices for IT equipment are double what they are here in USA. So if he paid $1000 CAD he got a roughly 650 USD PC. Dunno why Prices are so retarded in Canada but that's just the way they are.

But for my Money personally yes you should have waited, I will not upgrade or buy Any PC equipment until 1 the situation in Thailand is resolved which caused HDD price spikes, and 2. Ivybridge is out, the new 2011 chipsets are going to destroy anything on the market today.

Not unless you know where to shop. I just built my super computer and the price wasn't that big between US and here. I bought most of my parts online at newegg.ca or canadadirect.com.

Blu-ray rom/dvd-rw combo drives are pretty cheap now. Coming it at around $55 or so. And I believe just dvd-rom drives are even cheaper. The plus side is, you can play blu's from different regions that you can't on a PS3 (right or has that changed?).

This. A lot of prices on NewEgg.ca are almost identical to their U.S. site.

lol That was it! That's the model I had. Unfortunately, it came with Windows ME. Good God what a travesty of an operating system that was. Whatever crt monitor came with it (I think it had a Trinitron tube but it was a Dell) was still one of the most beautiful displays I've ever seen. However, me being an idiot at the time, purchased a memory upgrade directly from Dell. lol I think it was 2GB. I wish I still had the invoice, but all I remember it was well over $150. I think I also paid for an extended warranty. I can't remember what I else I purchased from them, but that was definitely the largest wastes of money I've ever been involved with.

Ya, you can change a drive up to 5 times between regions. If you can hook up your PC to your TV than you can effectively just run your PC as your "region free" player.
