Maybe it has been luck of the draw, but there is no such thing as an awful Denzel movie. They range from very watchable to great. In my opinion he is the black Al Pacino with more range. By that I mean he brings his own personality to every character instead of becoming the character. Gary Oldman is the best ever at becoming the character.

The one with Crowe back before Russell was famous was awful--just remembered, it was called Virtuousity.

My personal preference is Edward Norton. I don't think anyone can touch him. American History X may be the best performance I've ever seen. After him I like DeNiro, and a lot of people that most consider "character actors," like Hoffman, Buscemi, John C. Reilly, etc.
