How is that going to be done with anything less than R?
Not sure. Right after that he states:

Quote:
"It's not just about the blood, it's about ideas that are very stressful. I'm not an idiot, but I'll do everything I can to get the most aggressive film I can."
No idea. It seems like they might just rate it PGR-13

You don't need an R rating to scare folks.

You need a great atmosphere and score to do that. Cheap thrills like Xenomorphs jumping out of nowhere isn't scary.

I agree. I have never been one to say that it has to be R to be a good or scary movie.

I'm honestly failing to see where Scott actually STATES than Prometheus is a PG-13.

He has always said that any potentially horriffic shots will be filmed twice - once aiming at a PG-13, and once at an R - that way he can edit the movie without any annoying quick cutaways, etc.

So where does he state that it's going to be a PG-13 ?

People need to calm down a bit here (it's far worse on the IMDb Prometheus message area).

If it was going to get an R - he'd say it's getting an R, it's what everyone of the fans wants. He's not saying it's getting a PG-13 because it's not what the fans want, he's neither com firming nor denying, which ultimately will lead to what people don't want to hear. Name one time some one danced around a subject because the answer they give would be satisfactory to the masses?

Alien was amazing for the exact reasons. It was still rated R.

But even if it was PG13 it still would have been amazing. Would have just lacked 1 or 2 swear words

I don't think so.they would cut out the chestburster scene for sure, and that scene made Alien what it is.imagine Alien without that scene.
I don't care if they cut out all the bad words but if they cut all the gory stuff too, I'll write a hate letter for Ridley
I'm pretty sure it will be a good movie even if its PG13 but I'll be f..disappointed.

Exactly. You could put the chestbuster scene in a pixar movie, and it would give it an R rating, and that scene shocked everyone!

I don't care what this is rated, it's in my must see in a theater list this year!

If it's PG13, we can rule out any kind of graphic shockers on the scale of the chestburster scene.

A little off topic, but has anyone else seen the Total Recall teaser? The visuals are certainly eye catching (and I for one hope they are planning on remastering the original for blu).

I'm in not way saying I won't see it, because it is an opening nighter, I'm just disappointed because the movie won't be able to deliver in terms of the fear factor, with a kiddy rating.

I liked the look of the cars and the 'Mass Effect' style troopers.
Hopefully it'll be more than just flash.
