Default LONGMIRE, formerly on A&E, now on Netflix

Having to restart this thread after the last one was lost to the database crash.

I've really been enjoying this show. It's a must-watch every week. The cast is fantastic (I just wish that there was more Katee Sackhoff). There hasn't been a disappointing episode yet.

It is a great show with a great cast. I only have two problems with it: I get Walt is a man's man but I wish he'd let Vic do a little more as Sackhoff is the reason I started watching it. Also, the per capita homicide rate in Absaroka County, Wyoming makes Detroit seem like a safe house.

I've watched the first couple of episodes and there pretty good but what is with A&E editing/bleeping certain choice words?

If they weren't going to be on able to say them on air then why have them in the script?

I feel like this would be a better show as a serial drama rather than episodic... and that would definitely help the per capita homicide rate you're talking about.

The books were more slow burn, get to know the characters (not to say there wasn't killing... but it was a lot less)... but then again, they don't seem to be caring much about that.

One of my summer projects is The Killing which Im enjoying very much. This long, seasonal approach to solving one crime is so much more satisfying than the solve a murder in 43 minutes approach.

I didnt notice any words being beeped...maybe its done on the provider level.

I have DirecTV and I always watch the premier showing of each episode and they have never bleeped anything out. From what I've gathered on other forums, A&E bleeps and edits episodes after the premier of each new episode. So anytime they show a repeat (even if it's the encore later at night) it will be edited.

Not every case has to be a murder too. That would cut down on the body count. If that homicide rate were real, Branch should've won the election by a landslide.

I never thought Katee Sackhoff was particularly hot, but something about the way she carries herself and wears that uniform on this show is

What an awesome season finale! So who done it, to both things?

It has been picked up for a season 3! If this show was on say AMC instead of A&E it would be getting monster ratings! IMO

Wish this had a shot at a Blu-Ray release, but it seems rare for A&E shows to get one.

Seasons 1-3 are available on BD; I'm waiting to hear about S4, and hoping a package price deal will make the set more affordable.

For those watching for news on Longmire, not only is Season 5 coming, I read yesterday of the episodes being longer as well. As a Netflix show they were right around 60 minutes. Season 5 could make each like a mini-movie if they go 75, or (even better) 90.

I couldn't take it any longer I bought S1-3 on Blu-ray and have been really digging those! When S4 hits discs, those, too (meanwhile it, like the other seasons, is on Netflix).

Season 5 begins filming this month; planned release is September.

Season four is due out September 13 on DVD and Bluray. However, it appears the DVD will be a wide release, while the Blu-ray will only available through the Warner Archive collection. At least, that's how it appears to be worded.

Also newly announced by Warner today are the TV titles [...] Longmire: The Complete Fourth Season (due widely on DVD on 9/13, and also Blu-ray from the Warner Archive)

Season 1 & 2 were released separately on DVD a year apart, and the combined release on Blu-ray from WAC happened a few weeks after the DVD of S2. Seasons 3 was released on both DVD and Blu-ray on the same day, with the DVD being wide and the Blu-ray being from WAC only. There's no reason to expect different with Season 4.

Okay, I didn't know that's how they had done the previous season. Weird that they would release one wide and the other only online.

It's a question of market. A lot of TV shows are released on DVD but not on BD because the studios don't seem to think there's enough of a market for them on Blu. The exception seems to be for SF/fantasy/superhero/action titles, but even then there are limits, which probably appeal more to the tech-heads who gravitate toward Blu-ray. But consider that few crime dramas, even popular ones, don't succeed on Blu-ray.

Warner has a leg up over the other studios by using their own MOD label to release BDs that they don't think will sell well enough in the regular market. Note that Warner released The 100 S1 wide on both DVD and BD, but it obviously didn't sell well on BD, because they're doing S2 through the Archive. Same with the latest season of The Originals.

And then there's The Mentalist, which got wide releases on DVD each season, but got an S1 release on Blu only three years ago, and through the Archive. And it obviously did poorly even as just an Archive release, because they never did another season on Blu.
