I am not too familiar with the Toshiba super upconverting or whatever it is called - but aren't they just talking about upconverting regular DVDs better than they are upconverted today? This isn't a new media type is it?

I have a lot of DVDs that will probably not make it to BD, and if they can look better, why is that a bad thing?

It's always good if products can be improved. But simple common sense says this product will not make it to market. If this super upconversion is as amazing as "they" make it out to be, then why did Toshiba waste so much money on HD DVD? Why is every other manufacturer in line with Blu-ray products and not super upconversion?

My guess - and really, given the events of the past year, I do believe my judgments are better than the zealots now pushing this super upconversion - is that super upconversion, while may be useful for satellite images or security camera images, is not acceptable for movies.

It's not a bad thing - but the way they are marketing it IS a bad thing. They are trying to tell people that it will equal HDM. It simply can't for a couple of reasons:

1 - you can't make 480p look like 1080p
2 - you can't upconvert audio

They are putting lipstick on a pig and hoping no-one will notice it's not a beauty queen.

These people simply continue to demonstrate to the rest of us just how ignorant and pathetic they really are.

I think you guys need to let this go. Regardless what they think, the human mind can be impenetrable regardless if they lose or win a fight. We won it, and we shouldn't let such irregularities eat at us. They are not doing us any favor, so we shouldn't bother adding more fuel to the fire when it's them that are burned out. Let them drown them selfs in their illogical thoughts because their creditability means nothing to us.

It's still fun to watch. Hopefully none of these people will ever be regarded as fountains of knowledge when it comes to HD again. They are still proving they had no interest in PQ and are nothing but snake oil salesmen. That AVS and, I'm sure, HTF lets them continue on in HD forums will only cause them to become more and more inconsequential.

I was just going to say that. It's been completely proven indeed. Their support and encouragement for 'Toshiba's SUC' simply reinforced what we knew before.

The forum that initially surprised me a little bit was HTF. I mean they really showed their true (red) color in all of this and lost all legitimacy they had. Ron Epstein, Crawford, especially Cees, and the rest of the moderators there should be completely ashamed of themselves as they continue to spew their bullshit about looking after the consumer and audio/videophile while still not really supporting Blu-ray or making the case for it.

Just remember, it's only a select few reds that are pushing SUC because they don't like blu-ray. It's not all of them.

I was red until Toshiba called it quits. Now I'm a proud blu PS3 owner
