Default Red ants propaganda again.

The red ants are spreading propaganda again. They just can't give it up.
Courtesy of electronic house and our good old friends at AVS. Ha ha.
They will never get it.

some laughable quotes.

"My $99 Toshiba HD-DVD player does a great job of upconverting my SD collection for my 720p plasma. Plus, Netflix still ships me HD-DVD movies every day. I see no compelling reason to spend $400-500 for a BD player. I don’t think I will even “look” at BD players for a very LONG time, maybe when 1080p plasmas become more affordable; and if AppleTV/VUDU/etc become effective solutions by then, BD will be a novelty item like LaserDisc…"

"I find it humorous and ironic that the “ever-changing” BR technology was all offered intact on the defunct HD-DVD format (at lower cost too!) INCLUDING the 51GB disc which would have been (by all reports) backwards compatible!

While the statement that it is “...good for us all that the format war is done,” may be applicable for some, for many others it is just a rip-off. "

What a bunch of garbage. However, it is meaningless and irrelevant.

Funny thing is ...

Netflix will stop carrying them.
1080p plasmas can be had around $1000 ... that is affordable ... the dude talking knows nothing and we're wasting our time even reading/responding. *NEXT!*

Hey,

Yep,.. I wasted my time reading the whole article. The only thing I could remotely agree with is the players are likely to get cheaper. Nevermind you can get a player free if you buy a next generation gaming console

I never was happy about the profiles thing,.. Seemed like Blu Ray got envious of HD DUD's menus and stuff and decided it couldn't go on without that stuff that most movie watchers actually couldn't care less about. So... bringing up the profiles mess is fair play too. If they had asked me I would have said stuff Picture in Picture and the ability to buy movie related junk online via the Blu Ray player but thankfully for people that love that stuff they didn't ask me.

People who were suckered into HD DUD are rightfully still pissed off about it and articles like that may serve to make the feel better or something. Lots of people on AVS got pulled in because of 2 things.. HD DUD was available first and many members there were hot to jump on it as soon as it was out and the other reason is initial hardware was half the price of Blu Ray stuff which is a reason I almost made the mistake of buying into HD DUD. I thought it was the format of the 2 that I could afford.

Thank goodness the PS3 swooped in just in time to save the day.

-Brian

Odd, my June 2006 VAIO is fully BD-Live ATM.
To hear some of those clowns, it should have never been able to do Profile 1.1 ...

I wouldn't pay $4-$500 for a BD Player if I were him either.........

I'd pay $399 and get a $100 gift card to buy movies

The way I see it, the HD DVD supporters that were truly interested in hi-def have already moved to blu-ray or will sometime soon (if they're just waiting for better prices, for example). The ones that don't and continue to vilify blu-ray, really weren't interested in hi-def in the first place. They're just "anti-" whatever you want to list here and that will never change. Five years from now, they'll still be writing and saying the same things but hopefully everyone interested in movies and hi-def will have moved on, leaving them little to no audience. IMO, right now they're still trying to exploit the natural anger/disappointment associated with chosing a technology that didn't work out but they won't have that angle forever. Most people will move on.
