My disk drive just stopped working tonight. Not even 2 months old. I'm restoring the system in hopes that it works, but I'll probably be calling Sony tomorrow. =/

This happened to me, so with nothing in the drive, I held the eject button down for about 30 seconds and I haven't had any problems since. Give it a shot.

Thanks so much. I'll try after the wipe and reinstall. Really appreciate it.

This worked, and then didn't work. =(

Thanks anyway. I appreciate it.

I wish there was a way to clean the dust inside so I could at least eliminate that and get the problem down to mechanical. Nothing like paying $150 just for somebody to clean an optical drive.

Same here, it worked at first, then not at all. I can't believe this is happening right before GTA4.

okay so it has been a little better for the last few days but it is doing it again right now...

any suggestions to try to figure out what the problem is? I don't want to unplug HDMI when the system is on....... but if I turn it off and turn it back on it usually fixes itself.
