Pretty much everything else has a specific disc of extras (Resident Evil 5, Amazing Spider-Man, Prometheus, Titanic etc) OR a proper 2D SKU is included in the package which has the extras (Top Gun, Jurassic Park, the Marvel 3D titles). Third option is not to bother with any extras at all, e.g. Avatar (which is basically a promo disc anyway) and Fox's US/UK versions of I, Robot and Jumper. I hope that the UK version of Predator 3D doesn't come with any additional discs, because I don't want the UHE and I've already got the 2-disc DVD. |

This has probably been mentioned in here but according to Amazon.fr, the French release features:

So the 3D disc is going to be like the BD of Dredd which let's people view the transfer in 2D on 2D only players? Last edited by The Fallen Deity; 10-23-2013 at 04:29 PM. |

I can live without a handful of short featurettes. Heck, I can't even remember the last time that I watched the extras on the DVD. But if the UHE is included, I suppose I can retire the DVD.

I imagine most of the future catalog 3D conversions using the JVC business model will be bare bones 1 disk releases, that will show up without promotion, just as the U K release of Jumper 3D did back in August. |

Looks like I was mistaken regarding Dredd which has separate encodes for the 2D and 3D but Underworld Awakening and some other films just contain the 3D encode and when you playback these discs on a regular BD player it gives you just the left eye track.

Although I feel a 3D conversion of Predator is unnecessary, I am lured to buy this item only because of the packaging (it's not the first time).
It all comes down to one thing: [Show spoiler] Yeah, it's a guy thing. |

I kinda don't mind that predator gets the 3d treatment. There's some scenes that actually would look cool in 3d. I wish this had a 3d threatical re-release. It would have been awesome to see this on the big screen for the first time. I wasn't even born when it was released in the 80s.

Basically, if you ever see a 3D disc which has a 2D playable version on it, they're both part of the same MVC encode. Viewing "just" the left eye is exactly how the 2D version is supposed to work. |

Since many of you don't make it over to the 2D thread on this 3D release:
It has been confirmed that in the UK, Germany, and the U S, that the two disk release will include the Ultimate Hunter Edition released in 2010 in order to provide the extras that will not fit on the 3D/2D disk. The 3D/2D disk will play on 3D equipment in 2D and 3D and in 2D on 2D equipment. When you watch this in 2D you will be watching the left eye image of the 3D transfer, which is for all practical purposes, the UHE. It is likely that no new scan of the source (OCN) was involved. Any perceived difference between the UHE and the new 3D disk can be attributed to changes made during the 3D JVC conversion process. There may be additional 3D elements added, but that has not been confirmed. Last edited by raygendreau; 10-23-2013 at 11:30 PM. |

I feel obligated not to comment on that. The way I read my PMs, I should not be saying who I talked to, or the nature of what was discussed beyond the fact that it relates to Predator 3D. The deleted posts expressed my desire to take back anything ray felt was insulting -- I said stuff like "you're crazy" without believing it to be much of an insult, but of course what is important is how ray feels, so, I'm sorry -- but also that there's not much to discuss until the disc is out and people can see for themselves.

The only person I know that can answer that question with authority is Ian Harvey, Fox Technology VP who isn't talking. Every element required to answer your question appears in this thread. Perhaps you should spend a little time reviewing posts from July and August? Something to consider is that the folks at Fox who are sitting at the JVC workstation have had sufficient time with I, Robot, Jumper and now Predator, to become proficient at the job. That's a plus.
