10 people loving the show a LOT still doesn't get them as much money as 50 leaving it on while they cook dinner.

edit - alright I know there's ways it can but when you're fox and yo make decisions off of a month or two of ratings, this is how thigns go.

I've got mine on mine on pre-order at Amazon. This is an automatic purchase, as I'm a big fan of the series and theatrical movie (Serenity). I was extremely excited with to find it up at Amazon for pre-order.

Can't wait!

I probably will pre-order this eventually, but not without knowing the release date.

Not so bad for you Americans as you can get free shipping on it by itself, but for me (a Canadian) I like to order multiple things at once to cut down on the shipping charges and that doesn't work so well when there isn't a release date.

Very excited though.

The Fox execs didn't understand it, they put it in the Friday death slot where no person under 40 would find it by accident, and then they advertised it during the World Series (which pre-empted it for 3 weeks)

Plus the Nielsens are biased against single people with no children. In other words, they never give boxes to nerds so they're grandly underrepresentated in the ratings

Joss's new show Dollhouse is shooting a pilot right now, and even the faithful believe it won't show all of them before being axed.

Yes, it's one of those shows that actually got popular AFTER it went off the air.

Years ago, I had ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX via satellite from NY and LA, but when they changed some rules, I lost NBC and FOX, and since my reception was spotty (sometimes horrible), I simply boycotted NBC and FOX (not because I wanted to, but because the picture was so terrible, it simply wasn't worth watching). The first night that "Firefly" premiered, I tried my best to "tweak" the antenna enough to be able to see, but all I could see were moving blobs, and I just didn't care enough to hear the show, so I gave up watching it. Luckily, I was later able to catch up on the series via DVD, and less than halfway through the set, I was hooked!

I saw the pilot by accident as I was just channel surfing. After that, I was glued to the tv every Friday night. Was so mad they pulled this off the air, I sent an email to FOX (not that it would do any good). Bought the DVD set and I'll buy it on Blu.

BSG in Blu and I'll be content for a couple years.

He probably should have thought of a different name. I wouldn't have given the show a second thought if I was looking through the TV guide. With that name, I'd figure I wasn't the target audience. If I saw Eliza Dushku's name associated with it or Joss' name, I'd probably look it up (like I just did) but hopefully they promote it really well. I think the name will be working against them.

As for Firefly, can't wait to get it on blu-ray. I accidentally recorded over the shows I had saved on the DVR from Universal HD (forgot to protect them).

I'm sure Universal is working on it...I believe it's one of the title covers that's shown on their inserts.

to me Firefly was one of those rare shows where everything worked together to perfection: casting, story, music, cinematogrpahy and so on.

WHY IN HELL WAS THIS BRILLIANT SHOW CANCELED. I myself like the series a bit better than the movie. Whom ever was reponsible behind the cancellation should have been shot many times.

I will buy the blu-ray set in a heart beat as long as I can find a good deal online.

question! is the movie a part of the series (continuation, prequel)? or is it seperate but based on the series? (like OVA for anime)

Serenity is basically the second half of the TV series condensed into a movie in order to finish those story arch off.
Thats why I cant understand how people can see the movie without having seen the series.

In fact to me watching the movie is a little sad, as it is like a sped up outline of what the rest of the series would have been like.

(Yes Heresy - burn me too)

though i was really unimpressed by the movie ( bad acting, weak plot full of "cliche" )
I'm surprised you felt this way. Most people found it rather well done (it had a fairly high % on rottentomatoes.com)

A friend of mine saw it without seeing any of the series and thought it was amazing. She saw the series later and appreciated it more, however.

I think I read that Joss Whedon said it was more or less how the rest of season 1, and season 2 would have ended up. In other words, had the series lasted several seasons we'd have reached points that take place even after "SERENITY" left us off... which makes me ache for a sequel film every moment...

While I loved the show and loved the movie my though is what if it did not get cancled.

Would the show still be good or would of we even got a movie had the show been running.

I actually saw the movie first and saw the show after so I for me "in a small way" I am glad it got cancled.

Given some producers/studios for the shows don't know when to call it quits and rather run it into the ground rather then leave on a high note.
