Not surprising; as I said before, they all should be on BD no later than early 2016. I've suggested before that the package films could be bundled together for BD: Amigos/Caballeros (they've been bundled for DVD before), MMM/F&FF/MT, and Ichabod & Toad either alone or with TBC.

Yeah, I think that would be ideal, and an easier sell too.

I take it by "bundled together" you mean packaged in one unit for retail, right? If that's the case, I understand SA/TTC and MMM/F&FF/MT completely, but I&T/TBC?? If anything, the bundling could be broken further into simply MMM/F&FF and MT/I&T, with TBC standalone.

Do you think there's any chance we'll get more extras on Hercules than the UK did, or should I go ahead and import it? It might be my favorite Disney movie.

I would recommend looking at the kind of extras the top tier titles have had produced for them in the past few years (not very impressive), then the kind of extras the lower tier titles have had produced for them (practically nonexistant, this is where Hercules will fall, alongside stuff like Mulan, Lilo, Groove), and order the Euro Blu-ray (I see no reason not to do the same for Aladdin, Dalmatians and Tarzan, if there's an interest). I'm just finishing my second watch of it, which is my second time seeing this movie. The Blu looks great and I think it's a movie that will grow on me the more I watch it.

I think the most likely thing you'll be missing out on vs the eventual domestic release is a slipcover and wacky 2 Movie Collection art and Zero to Hero, if they go that route, a Digital Copy and DVD.

No. The extras the UK got are the exact same extras we got when Hercules was released on DVD here.

Just remembered 2 other classics, Honny I Shrunk/Blew Up The Kid,

Almost forgot bout it til I saw a preview of it on an old Vhs that I watched while on vacation, rather have Honey I Shrunk/Blew Up in a 2 Movie pack while We Shrunk Ourselves is released but most likely we'll get a 3 movie set *rolls eyes*

If we did receive a 2 movie collection of the Honey flims, I'd like to see a behind the scenes feature, Deleted Concept/Scenes and Audio Commentary for both films and (regrettably) toss in 2 episodes of Honey I Shrunk The TV Series

Disney's been hinting at Pollyanna getting released too. First, it was supposed to be end of last year, but that came and went. I believe I read somewhere (either on this forum or another) by a member who worked on the restoration of Mary Poppins, that the work on Pollyanna was already completed and ready to go a while ago, so what's the hold up?

(Or at least, Clarence Muse did when he ran crying to the NAACP after a falling-out with the studio: The organization originally found "no fault" with the movie when it came out, since Remus was such a positive role model to the boy character, but did a sudden turnaround after they started singling out Hattie McDaniel as scapegoat symbol of un-PC black domestic roles to fight against.)
The initial press release by the NAACP executive secretary was actually written before they actually viewed the film and was based on second-hand accounts. In truth the film has been protested since it was in initial release.

Well, if someone as educated and cultured as Iger is a "dope" - do you think the general public is going to understand?

The "South" fans may be on a retirement watch - but that's just a false hope, if anyone was going to release it, it would have been under Iger's watch. He actually is quite progressive with directions the company has taken creatively - it had the best chance under him than it ever has had.

My guess is, it isn't about individual interpretations or elements of the film, but simply it's overall public perception. It's a firestorm that would just be waiting to happen. Look what just happened with SNL - they didn't even do anything offensive, they simply didn't have a black female on the show and look at the controversy that happened - and most folks who complained probably don't even watch SNL to begin with.

I wonder if it's possible for any discussion of Disney on Blu to NOT devolve into a back and forth on Song of the South. Why don't you all start your own thread about it and stop highjacking other people's thread in order to expound your two cents worth

Yeah -- social media + Song of the South wouldn't be pretty.

Tell me something. What do you anticipate Disney will do with this movie between now and when it becomes public domain? I cannot imagine Disney not attempting to cash in on this movie at SOME point.

The only Disney animated film I would like to own on blu-ray would be The Black Cauldron.

For animated, I really can't wait for Hercules and Aladdin. Live-action, I am dying for Honey I shrunk the Kids. ...Blew Up the Kid I can take or leave, but the 3rd one I wouldn't buy unless they forced me to by making a triple pack.

I'm lucky enough to have it on DVD, but I would kill for "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" to be released on blu.

Wondering the same thing. Baia was cut in '77, but was put back in for all home releases.

Song of the South not being released is hogwash. I mean, I agree in some ways it can be kinda offensive, But hell, Grow up. Last time I checked there are a lot of offensive things in all kinds of movies...

It is apart of history and it will not be forgotten just because Disney doesn't have the balls to release it. Disney needs to take note of this. Release the damn movie.
Hell, At least do a manufactured on demand BD release. I find it scary that so many people and companies screw history over for such petty reasons.
