The film that started WHAT all, considering they never made a sequel?

And yes, the cover is hilarious.

I forgot that movie even existed. And it barely even qualifies, without Cruise as Lestat.

Hmph....as you can see from my sig this is okay news. Upgraded audio is great but nothing to really celebrate. WB will never go all out for this. Give us Louie killing the priest (which was filmed) but it won't happen. Oh well I could always go read the book again. I'll still buy it and just switch covers and sell the old one.

You know what really sucks -- Warner has never upgraded Michael Collins (also directed by Neil Jordan) from the initial double sided DVD. You have to flip the disc to finish the movie!

Yeah I guess just no money in these smaller, less popular films.

I'd imagine this will get a new transfer regardless. Maybe that'll help a smidge?

Oh, man, that would be nice. I think Michael Collins is an important movie, if for no other reason than as a good supplement to teaching kids about Irish history. It keeps their attention better than a "traditional" documentary.

Haven't even upgraded my DVD of this and see no reason to until a proper transfer is done - http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...D=1114#auswahl

lossless audio=sale. I have held off due to this not having hd audio. I would love remastered video (unlikely imo), but that would not be deal breaker.

Considering that the first one was a low bit-rate VC-1 encode on a 25GB disc, even if we don't get a full remaster but just a higher bit-rate AVC encode on a 50GB disc that should help some with the picture quality. Since they are including DTS-HD MA audio and an added bonus feature, it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

Wow! Now that's a fugly cover (in thick Italian accent/cadence).
It honestly does make Near Dark's Twilight-inspired POS look good by comparison. This cover looks like gay porn, period. (not dissing or condoning gay porn, this just looks like a gay porn ad IMO).

Isn't that incredibly fitting though given the not-so-subtle subtext of the whole movie?

Touche!
Although not being a fan of gay porn myself, I still prefer the old "Gothic Gay" look.

The film that started it all is more than a bit of a stretch (the film itself had very little to do with much of anything) but Anne Rice could make a pretty good case that she was instrumental in the douchification of vampires.

Don't get me wrong, I like her stuff and while she didn't create angst-ridden vampires from whole cloth [cough]Barnabas Collins[/cough] there's no question she went a long way toward popularizing the Harlequin Romance meets 50 Shades of Gray meets Fifty More of Gray Just To Be Safe approach to vampires that has taken hold of late.

So, in that sense...
