I was so happy when I saw this thread title...then I saw the artwork, then the lack of a new transfer, then the possibility of no upgraded audio...what a bummer!
Definitely thankful for Akijama for posting the news! Just another missed opportunity by the studio, it seems.

obviously 8-channel SDDS was never achievable for home theater application - but 'Interview' in the theater and specifically with five front channel sound was one presentation that has and will always be remembered (to me at least) where the sound effects and the music had such tremendous power and lushness.

well they did give some love to Million Dollar Baby and The Fugitive re-issues. So here's hoping Vampire will get the remastered PQ & AQ!

As already pointed out by MifuneFan, audio will be lossless.

The lack of a new transfer shouldn't be surprising. The only titles they have remastered so far are Casablanca, The Fugitive and Enter the Dragon. Casablanca is....Casablanca. Naturally, they are going to milk that cash cow.

The previous Blu incarnations of The Fugitive and Enter the Dragon were really bad. They probably thought they can't get away with a lazy anniversary re-issues.

Plus, it's also worth noting that both remasters were released last year, when the studio was celebrating its 90th Anniversary. That was probably an additional incentive for them to remaster both titles.

DOH! I missed that. Well hopefully the audio is upgraded, at the very least.
I think you're right about last year being the 90th Anniversary and WB wanting to go all out.
I'll definitely keep an eye on this. Upgraded audio and new extras just might trump catastrophic artwork!

Ugh. I bought the last version for like $7 at some point, but haven't watched it yet so of course my initial thought was "great, already a re-release" - but, that said, after seeing this cover, glad I have the first one. I'll get this one, and just toss the new cover and use the old one. While I'm not picky on packaging graphics normally, that's just abysmal.
