Also, this thread has become absolutely terrible. I used to get excited to read but now it's just sad. |

I really don't understand the so called 5000 vs. 10,000 number controversy because the title hasn’t shipped yet. Anyone who really bought it because the number was 5000 can cancel the pre-order, right? The only people hurt by this are the few die-hard fans who panicked and bought one of those $150 copies from eBay. I guess it also hurts people who bought it only to sell later at inflated prices, but who cares about them? |

![]() The price and the quantity are both very high. In the realm of "Limited Edition" Blu-rays, 5,000 is a very high number. Twilight Time does 3,000 print runs and I have many "Limited Edition" Blu-rays that are 2,000, 1,000, & several hundred print runs. I just don't see anything about this set that justifies an $80 price. It should be $35 or $40 max for what is included. ![]() |

I'm not here to stop anyone's enjoyment of this site. So I'm sorry for that. I'm no troll, I won't be continuing with the argument. Let's just get excited we'll soon have both versions of Nightbreed in HD, one which no one has ever seen ![]() |

I thought bait and switch only applied to items that are physically available and not incompleted pre-orders where your money is basically still in your wallets. It's got to be exhausting feeling persecuted every time you are given an option to purchase an item.

It's literally not a bait and switch
"Bait-and-switch is a form of fraud used in retail sales but also employed in other contexts. First, customers are "baited" by merchants' advertising products or services at a low price, but when customers visit the store, they discover that the advertised goods are not available, or the customers are pressured by sales people to consider similar, but higher priced items ("switching")." The price is the same, nobody is advertising something that doesn't exist. Since the product isn't even being distributed yet, they are well within a period to subject change. They simply amended the amount distributed. Bait and switch would only apply if they said they only had 5000, sold them and took money without the option to cancel, and then pressed 5000 more at $100 a pop while still advertising 5000 as the total they have. Even that scenario is loose, but it's obvious that it's not realistic. Now can we all stop calling this a bait and switch? |

LIMITED EDITION SET: Only 5,000 numbered sets produced This above to own one of these 5k is $80. A high price for a single movie, although two versions. But it's a limited number set. It's now 10000, but that less limited, less rare item will cost....$80 I see a bait and then a switch. Call it what you like. I mean it was obvious the amount of fans and this midian group pushing for this release was only a ceiling of 5000 people right, it must have been a huge shock for Scream that more wanted it.. I'm no longer interested in arguing. I'm more than happy with the price I've preordered at through amazon and have zero interest in numbered sets. I'm glad I'll own a copy of this movie I like and enjoy, plus a new unseen version at a price I'm ok with. |

Even if it takes awhile, they will eventually have to release more copies to Amazon, as between the cancellations and the new edition size I don't see how they can't unless they want to be stuck with a ton of copies of this now. |

![]() Released or not, goalposts have been moved from the initial lure. That's a fact. There is no reduction in the price although it will be doubled in circulation, at the moment. Rather talk about the film and the extra content, the difference between the two releases |

The action (generally illegal) of advertising goods that are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or more expensive goods. I believe Blu MacReady was going by this (personally, I don't find the product inferior because it's no longer limited to 5,000). However, I don't consider Shout! Factory's move a bait-and-switch, since I don't feel substituting inferior product was their intention. The product is in early pre-order status. They increased the run to 10,000 and their site has been updated to reflect that. Though, Shout! Factory should have committed to their marketing; it's what consumers have to go by, and when they renege on that, trust is lost. |

It could be any number of things. My wager would be on Amazon may not have been offered any more copies yet, as of course Shout wants folks to order directly from them since they stand to make double on each one, between not having to share the profit with Amazon and getting full retail price of $80.
