^^ I'm inclined to agree with this based on precedent.

One example: Dell tried this back in 1993 or so through Sam's Club and it was an abysmal failure.

What makes them think anything is different now? If anything, the situation will be far worse thanks to the Internet and all that it offers.

From what I read today in the WSJ, all they're talking about is offering <$700 Dimension Desktops and seeing how it floats.
