Digibooks are still very popular, and these titles that are getting the Diamond Luxe packaging allready have digibook packagings
with the exception of Gremlins and Forest Gump(which the previous release of FG was Paramount) Why would they bother to issue a new digibook for Batman,Natural Born Killers and Greenmile when they allready have excellent digibooks out their?
Especially when most people suspect the discs will end up being the same transfer and content as the digibooks.

I'm not just talking about Green Mile and NBK. I have a bad feeling that in order to save money in the future, Warner will completely nix potential digibook packaging for this cheaper diamond luxe packaging whenever they release any popular catalog title. When was the last Warner digibook to be released and are there any on the slate right now?

They can, as long as they're slightly opened. It's like getting a thin hardcover book to stand up.

There's been only one new feature announced:

Quote:
Batman: The Birth of the Modern Blockbuster (NEW) Discover how the film's phenomenal marketing, extensive merchandising and franchise foresight set the template for the next 25 years of tentpole pictures.
This being Warner Bros, there will be no new transfer.

I don't think you have an acurate impression of what these cases are like.

Take a look at this unboxing for one (skip to like 4:00)

And here's an in-depth description into the making of these cases from someone who helped design them

I invented NEO™ along with PixelChrome™ the hyper glossy/ reflective specialty graphic substrate that it is constructed from, about 18 months ago here in my Los Angeles design studio not far from Sony Pictures. SPE is releasing the first example of NEO with Amazing Spiderman 2 at Best Buy on 8/19. The finished composite material is .100” thick and is made up of approximately 15 layers of stuff.

It took about a year to refine the product to within NASA tolerances and build the equipment that makes the revolutionary manufacturing process possible. One of the key challenges was to create a precision snap fit for the disc without using a hub. The case is kept securely closed with dual neodymium magnets embedded in the material.

NEO is being manufactured by DISC, the specialty packaging company that I work for, in Long Island, NY. More images and a decent 3D animation of NEO can be found here: neobluray.com. My goal was to create a completely new solution, capable of displaying celebrated imagery in the richest way possible, to create a case that is cinematic, timeless, and obscures the artwork as little as possible (both inside and out). No hubs, no trays, no borders, no cloudy plastic to look through. I also wanted it to be made from anything other than cheap molded plastic or recycled tin cans. Great movies deserve better! Not to slight Steelbooks etc, it is a great product and is still a good fit for some titles, but it is well past a decade old. I have also observed over and over that printing on recycled scrap metal drives people in this business crazy with its limitations and poor color consistency. I once heard an art director at one of the studios say that tin printing should be reserved for lunchboxes and vintage toys! I don't think that's true but I understand her frustration. Anyway I hope that collectors enjoy having something new to experience. In the wide world of commercial graphic art, I can’t think of a better place to be making a contribution. - Shane Rossiter

+1 to what Mifune said.

If you want to keep the thing in its case, it's never gonna stand up. If you open it, it'll stand up very easily as long as it's slightly open. But it will not warp or anything like that. I was a doubter before I bought this thing, too, but it's surprisingly sturdy (it is prone to scratches and scuffs, but it's plastic, so that's to be expected). This isn't like that woeful Noah Target "wood" slip which apparently warped - this is pretty resilient and will keep its shape just fine.
