I don't think that works. Prince's music is only used as a practical in the film. In the sense that virtually every time you hear it, there is an actual loudspeaker, car stereo or boom box playing it. The parade scene and the scene at the art museum would be absurd if you replaced the pop music with underscore.
Unless you mean that Prince should be replaced with Oingo Boingo songs, which, other than satisfying a matter of taste, wouldn't change these scenes much at all. |

Well, Warner Brother did have some good VC-1 titles actually. Batman Returns is VC-1 and looks outstanding. As does The Exorcist, Inception, and others. Im glad everyone uses MPEG 4/AVC now because it is the sharper of the 2 encodes but i dont hate the VC-1. Now MPEG 2, im not really fond of. Most MPEG 2'S (there are exceptions) look like dog****!!

The Exorcist says VC-1 all day long on my Sony player. As does the review on here. But no biggie. Harry Potter 3 looks great for sure, yes. The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile as well look pretty decent, 2 more VC-1's

I remember reading that VC-1 can be just as good as AVC just as long as it is used correctly.

I seen a lot of good VC1 encoded blu-rays/HD-DVDs from all the studios and I seen people compare the same film on occasions which had both and AVC encodes and some times the VC1 films had won over and then other times AVC won over. Both when used properly delivered excellent results. From what I remember VC1 mostly was criticised when it came down to reviewing earlier warner disks which tbh warner did not do the best since most of their earlier films were heavy on the DNR and low bitrates. Ooops not sure what I was thinking. Warner went longer with VC-1 than I realized.

Yeah but its not a big deal. Everyone including me wanted the 40th anniversary to be re-encoded AVC with a higher bitrate. It would have cleaned up the color banding with the sun in the begining and gotten rid of some of the noise thats in a couple of scenes. Other than a few tiny mishaps, the transfer is golden! Definitely a 4.5 out of 5 for PQ!! Hopefully, the sequels shine as well. Warner's has been turning out some nice transfers lately so fingers crossed.
