im a big fan of south park and their censored mouths...not so much of their uncensored mouths. I used to buy South Park in ITunes, but now they only sell it uncensored. Does anyone know if the blu ray's have the option of censored vs. uncensored episodes? I think the censored cussing is funnier.

Honestly, I agree with mountaindewbass. The bleeps are loud and really call attention to themselves in some pretty funny moments. The uncensored curse words? meh. They just sort of blend in with the rest of the dialogue. Those moments just aren't as funny to me as they could be. Of course, uncensored South Park isn't as bad as the uncensored Boondocks DVDs (too much male nudity...
![]() I really wish that they had released the seasons with both censored and uncensored audio tracks included. It doesn't seem like it would have been a lot of extra effort or space. It's a pity to be limited to just one track (either one) when the tech capacity is certainly there. With something like Blu-ray, I always want to see all of the available versions on the release (looking at you, Wedding Singer, Troy, Stripes, etc.). |

Then again, the movie is meant to be different from the show, so it's easier to accept that it's uncensored. The show does seem to play up the censorship at times, so it is part of the joke sometimes. I accept it either way. I like hearing the actual words, but I do understand the nostalgia for the censored version, like it was for years. |

Indeedy, that's been part of the joke with Kenny for **** knows how long. But, as said above, when they actually are effing and blinding for the sake of it, it kinda just blends in to the background. Heck, it also undermines the movie because one of the key USPs of that show WAS the swearing! In that context it doesn't become white noise that I tune out because it was deliberately used for artistic effect. I'll be honest, I stopped watching South Park a long time ago (nothing against SP, just TV in general) but recently I saw the episode when Butters becomes a pimp. I did a double-take when I heard the cursing first of all, I didn't expect it, yet by the end of that episode they're all swearing so much that the shock value was completely gone inside a half hour. That's what I mean about the movie, it uses the swearing like a laser scalpel whereas it seems to be more of a blunt instrument in the show itself. |
